Old, old thread but I have a 2.5i Raptor supercharger on a 5MT Outback running 132 KW ATW at a little under 6 PSI.

I wouldn't mind a little more boost but would not like to blow up the motor.

I'm an easy driver... no launching and I don't rev past 6000 rpm.

How far can I go on 93 octane (that is US gasoline - I think it is close to your 98????).

8 psi seems like it should be pretty safe per Tim @ Raptor. Should I have any reservations there with my old, otherwise healthy engine ???

Nope, 93 octane is 93 octane. That's close to our "regular" unleaded of 91 octane which is the worst and cheapest we can get. We have two levels of premium at 95 and 98 octane. If you get it fresh, the 98 can sometimes actually be 100 octane (they just guarantee that it will be at least 98 when you buy it).

Sorry, can't answer your supercharger query.

Your 98 is RON , right?

Ours is RON + MON / 2.

RON is higher than MON, so our octane numbers are not comparable if this is true. I think your 98 is quite close to our 93.

That is correct. It's confusing how different countries use the 2 different Octane testing methods (RON and MON) to grade fuel differently.
Yes, our 98 is similar to the US (and I believe European as well) 93.

Any thoughts about running stock EJ253 with say.. 10 or 11 psi on the Raptor with race gas or E85? We call it 100 octane here, I think that'd be about 105 octane in Australia.

What size are you guys calling the 9 psi pulley?

Have a 51mm here, I think it is probably too much but I am not sure what it'd be @ 6000 rpm , stock ej253....

59mm =6 psi
56mm = 8psi

I don't know if it is linear.... if so, it'd be 1.5mm per PSI.

Guess who’s back!!! Haha man I have not been in this forum or read this post in years. It brings back some memories and gives me tingles…the kind that only all wheel drifting can bring ;) Still cannot believe how much power we got out of that car Tim and Ed! Good times
