07 TBSTI mods

Postby saasdasd » Tue Oct 24, 2017 12:50 pm

Hi there,

I'm looking to get a little more bottom end response on my manual 07 TBSTI.

It recently had an engine rebuild due to having a cracked piston ring. It now has forged pistons (CP) & conrods (nitto), as well as ACL race bearings, ARP625 head studs and head gaskets (roger clark).

I have been suggested a few different options, ranging from dump & cat, intake, downpipe and of course a tune. I wanted some feedback from this forum since I feel I'd be able to get more sound advice. I am most definitely a rookie when it comes to mods.

I really don't want to spend too much money currently after the engine rebuild - I am more after what the most efficient combination of mods would be to feel a little more power behind the wheel. I definitely do appreciate the sleeper look and sound to the car.

Any and all thoughts appreciated, cheers.

So your cars stock besides a recent forged bottom end build?

sick

Dump pipe and tune will be best bang for buck

then if you want more power you will need to do all the bolt ons (look at my sig)

Thanks for the feedback mate! Yes it's completely stock currently.

Do you think intake would be worth doing too? Or would I not feel too much difference you reckon

MORE BOOST!

But seriously you have a built bottom end, do the common bolt on's with an upgraded turbo and crank the boost up to like 25psi. it'll be a rocket ship!

Cheers guys! Any idea what a ballpark price would be to do the common boltons? And what they would be exactly?

about 3-4k depending if you buy all brand new or mix in some 2nd hand parts
(price above is only me counting the bolt ons that add power)

that's actually not too bad.

i've done the dump pipe and tune - went from 133kw atw to 163kw. would the boltons get me close to 200 you reckon? just trying to gauge how much more power i'd gain, even if it's a rough guess

generally the vf46 standard turbo will be hard to achieve 200kw unless on e85

then again i got a port n polished v52 and a slipping clutch
i made 173kw @ a random dyno day meet up and matt said i had anti abuse mode on *shrugs*

now i got a HD clutch in and anti abuse mode off, im dying to see what i get on a dyno day

Do not run the Vf46 on E85 it WILL be shithouse! Speaking from experience, it is too small and the amount of exhaust gas volume far exceeds what it can flow. Yes it might spool up ~200rpm quicker but up top wont flow any better or make the switch worthwhile..

get your hands on a vf52, a good down pipe, silicone intake, fuel pump....we can source those parts for you...we have the silicone intake and pumps in stock....then down the track go full flex setup...you'll only need injectors and flex sensor....you should make a solid 230kw on e85 with vf52...
