Tyre Suggestions

Postby Corsair » Sun Sep 10, 2017 9:13 pm

Will be looking for new shoes in the not too distant future, and thus far have only run variants of Bridgestone Potenza's, those being RE001s and RE002s.

Does any one have any recommendations for a good, grippy performance tyre?
I got this plan. It's called 'Save Ass'. And the way it works is this - I slip outta one of these windows and I run like a bastard!

Mainly Dry - AD08R's
Wet/Dry - Dunlop Sport Maxx or or RE003's or Conti SportsContact 5P (motor mag winner)
CURRENT - ATP GTX 3576 - 22psi - 283.7awkw

Thanks for the suggestions Jslayz. I'm after wet / dry performance. I love the feeling of being able to handle any situation and to have traction in the rain.

S001 here, I'm on 8.5" rims which unlocks the more affordable 235 40 18 size, around $740 on a threeforfour deal...

Michelin PS4! Relatively cheap, readily available, and personally I feel like they have ridiculous grip. Very impressed with them on both street (dry and wet) and track so far. All of my mates run either PS4 or PS3 now as we've not found a better tyre at that same price point, and we're all happy with them on street and track. I feel like they're very pressure sensitive too, even a reasonable difference in just 4-5psi.

Nah but WOT in second or 1st I can spin them at top of each gear onwards if road is wet.
So you have to be trying to break loose.
Fine if you moderate your driving style for the wet as you should.

When new they are 8mm deep and do really well in the wet but as they wear this reduces a bit

They are still good in wet but are a max dry style IME and I really like them.

Done 40,000kms with no real regard to save them or max life

Thanks for all the suggestions everybody. Most appreciated! :hi:

I guess the only other consideration for me, other than grip, is whether the tyre has a rim protector. The Potenza's have saved my rims a couple of times due to the fact that the rubber bulges out a bit. Always handy!

+1 for the Bridgestone S001s. Despite all the marketing of the RE003s to enthusiasts, those who have had both say the S001s are better (and they're cheaper).
