The risk of engine failure at that low level is extremely high - check much more often if you don't have a few thousand spare $$$ laying around

Will provide a section here for the 3.6 motor soon

Have spent some time reading through this thread, very interesting stuff and good info to know as a new liberty owner.

What is the difference between Castrol, Penrite, Nulon etc? Is there an actual difference in the oil or is it just a personal preference thing?

Lot of personal preference, however I have found the Penrite giving the longest effective service life

I am finding that the oil life in an EZ36 is no different to an EZ30, by 6000km you definitely find an increase in engine noise at idle. I was hoping the 36 would remain quiet for longer, however I have no idea what the dealer oil is

First oil change coming up this weekend

Last time I checked, they were still using Castrol Magnatec.

OK, I sent the Magnatec on a permanent holiday last night, in the the Penrite 5/40 - big difference in motor quietness.

The only thing about the 36 is it holds a LOT of oil, seems like 6.5 liters is needed to get it near the full mark on the dipstick. Fairly costly

This EZ30 engine seems to be a bit wierd. After oil change, engine feels more powerful or after topping oil level to max. I think it has to do something with AVCS system, maybe it works better when oil on max level? Anybody noticed same thing? 15000km change interval, it burns about 1-1.5 litre oil between changes. Valvoline 5W-40.

Do not exceed 7500 change interval - the oil is rooted enough by then

Been going with the Pentrite 5/40W ENVIRO for the 6GEN 3.6R. Getting best oil life EVER on this enviro, no noises, fuel economy staying high and great performance at 7500km. I have almost never had any lube last that long in a H6 without some kind of lifter noise onset or something indicating the oil was below its best condition
