Dust/moisture cap doesn't fit with aftermarket LED headlight

Postby Esho » Sat Jun 17, 2017 10:30 am

Hi guys,

I was wondering if anyone else had this issue. I purchased some aftermarket LED headlights and because they are a bit bigger than the original headlights, the dust cap doesn't fit. I was able to clip the LED lights firmly into place but just can't
Get the dust cap to fit.

Can anyone recommend anything or if anyone has come across this, what they did?

Any assistance would be much appreciated.

Thanks.

Did you purchase the complete headlight or just the bulb?

What I would expect you to probably need to so is cut a hole in the cap.

That's what I ended up doing. I was hoping for a better alternative e.g if I could get some soft plastic dustcaps. I bought fog lights LEDs at the same time and they were too big for the dust cap too. I wasn't able to fit the cap at all. So I had to leave the dust cap not connected.

R.I.P. vision
Try these https://www.powerbulbs.com/au/product/p ... on-h7-twin
Swap one and drive around, see which one is better at the cutoff (for spotting things like animals, rocks etc. on the road while driving).

I had my hid kit installed with just holes cut and not a good seal for years. Honestly never had an issue with dust or anything. You could aways use some silicone or something to create and air tight seal.

My HIDs looked way better than the best h7 Philips bulbs I could buy at the time.

And because the light is still a projector light, the only difference is you don't get the headlight washers.
So clean your headlights manually. No big deal.

Absolutely love the LED lights compared to the halogen lights. They are so much brighter and love the White light. ( just hoping I don't get them defected.) my only concern is using the fog lights when raining as its closer to the road and I don't have the dust cap on.

Actually there's quite a difference optically between halogen and discharge projectors, but hey, bright foreground and narrow beam = awesome lights?! (no).

Oh yeah and LEDs, bright white light

This.

Retrofitting any headlamp with a different globe technology without taking into account lens/projector focus is the worst mod ever. It might "look" brighter but the light is in all the wrong places and not where you need it to be, i.e. seeing where you are going.
