Dump-Pipe Bolt Torque question

Does anyone know if this is normal? When I torque down the Bolts that connect my Dump-Pipe (aftermarket in my case) to my Mid-Pipe (stock), the springs tighten so far that they fully compress.

The service manual says 18Nm, which is what I did. But how are those springs supposed to do anything, when they are fully compressed like that??

It seems to me that they are compressing too much, but that's to the factory torque specs.

What brand is your dump pipe? Most I've seen are supplied with longer bolts & different springs to accommodate the thicker flange of the dump pipe.
Maybe back the nut off so that the spring has some clearance then lock it in place with another M10 nut - there is enough thread left.

Thanks , it's a PhatGT Dump Pipe. The bolts and all the hardware are stock on mine if I remember correctly. Because I bought replacement ones after the workshop just put hardware-shop bolts on without the springs.

Does anyone who has these stock Bolt-springs have them this tight, or are they usually looser?

I was about to say that the bolt length shouldn't make a difference, since it'll just keep tightening until the springs compress (to reach 18Nm). But now I understand your point about the stock flange being thinner. The stock bolt isn't threaded all the way, so the nut would usually reach the end of the thread, and the springs wouldn't be fully compressed.

Do you know if any aftermarket supplier sells the Hardware on its own?

Using a 2nd nut is a good idea though. I'll do that if I can't find replacement hardware.

Yeah, I do have the doughnut gasket in there. I think the issue is because my Dump Pipe has a thicker flange, but I have stock hardware.
It would be good to see a stock one though, so I can make it look similar.
