Best Factory Turbo Swap for 2004 2.0T Liberty GT

Postby Johnsy99 » Sat Jan 28, 2017 12:16 am

Hey Guys, so I bought a 04 Liberty GT (2.0T EJ20) 3 months ago and i'm totally in love with it. The Chassis has 230,000km on it but the engine was replace and only has about 100,000km on it. For my p's its fine power wise but as usual i'm starting to want more and i'm looking to swap the turbo to something different. Im looking for your advice on what's the best factory replacement VF34, VF23, etc. Im not looking to make heaps more power just something that is close to a direct bolt on before i get a tune. Only mod the car has so far is an XFORCE Twin Axle Back Cannons but ill be getting the center pipe and cat done soon. This is my first subaru so don't hate too hard on my lack of turbo swap knowledge haha.

Thanks In Advance
Brenden

None of those will fit - The only bolt on option is a Kinugawa - http://www.carmodsaustralia.com.au/cata ... -gt-06-07/
The liberty/legacy twin scroll flange is unique to the VF38/TD04HLA/VF44/VF45 (44/45 are JDM only, 38 is from auto cars, hla is manual)

You'll also want a dump pipe, a silicone inlet, and an intercooler upgrade

The VF36/37 from GDB STIs wil fit but you need to do some work. You'll need the headers and up-pipe from an STI and some of the lines are a little short as the turbo sits a little lower. You will also have to mess with the intercooler of mod an STI version to fit the mounts. Not a bolt on fit but worth it if you want to do the work.

You'll also need the turbo support bracket and down pipe flange changed. Basically for any other turbo you'll need new headers, up pipe, down pipe and intercooler changes.
