Wrx quad exhaust on 2010 Liberty gt

Postby 432-r » Tue Nov 22, 2016 1:00 pm

Hi all,
I've recently acquired a 2010 Liberty gt wagon.

I was looking at exhausts and shapes and have a specific question.

Could I take a cat back quad tips from a 2012 wrx and get it to fit my wagon?

I mean moving hangers etc is fine at an exhaust shop. The rear section (shape wise) looks identical between the two cars.

What would be required ? Bit of lengthening or is it just fundamentally not going to happen with stuff like diffs being in the way etc. happy to move hangers, increase via extension.

Any experience appreciated -
Thanks

I believe the mid pipe back will bolt up.
I haven't tried on my gen V yet.

But I did bolt up a 2014 wrx exhaust and quad tips to my Gen 4 when I had it. So basically it bolted up to the mid section and had to adjust hangers otherwise it hung too low.

I will be looking at doing the same to my 2010 GT when I find the right wrx exhaust. I want the one I had before because the resinator was more of a hotdog shape which I liked.

PS I also just bought a 2014 wrx sti steering wheel to fit my 2010 GT. I'll let you know how that goes.

I suspect that the centre section will need lengthening. I doubt the WRX centre section is in any way better than the Lib GT centre so save some grief.
Rear cans will bolt on, flange bolts are front/rear, hangers are pretty right but tips will need cutting off and new ones to suit rear bumper.

I'd like to hear about the WRX steer wheel, looks pretty sweet as a cheaper-than-DAMD upgrade.

I'll be sure to post a thread here about that.

Aside from the wheel, I just bought the wrx 2015 exhaust with the nicer resinator.

I'll try to fit this over the weekend maybe.
Should sound fantastic.
However because of my bumper / body kit, I'll need to cut the tips off haha.

So I can confirm 2 things, the quad tip mufflers bolt on just fine.

Sadly the mid pipe with the hotdog resinator is too short (maybe 15cm).

Which is bad news for me because I think the best sound comes from that resinator over the stock one that we have.

I might be needing to lengthen it at some point, otherwise it's a waste.
