Exhaust decisions

Here's where you can ask for suggestions what MODs you should consider. Let the experts tell you what you should add.

Exhaust decisions

Postby andy_mac » Fri Dec 18, 2015 6:54 am

So.. Really struggling to make a call on what exhaust to go for.
Don't want any huge cannon style setups.
Kinda narrowed it down to the X force or some quad tip setup like the Invidia. Prefer the quad look but there aren't many options out there.
Obviously both are considered louder than most. Not interested in being hideously loud.
Any good alternatives anyones come across or some audio clips of either with the 2.0 twinscroll libs/legs? Can't find any that aren't 3.0r/2.5gt ones.

If budget allows K2 Gear is pretty awesome looking. I think they make both dual and single tip options.

Hey mate,I have a 3" Downpipe already.
I was wanting to do the rest of the exhaust...what setup is on the videos above?
It actually sounds pretty good. I was worried that a full exhaust would sound crapp for our twinscroll setups.
Thanks

My setup is grouse!
Phat dump with hiflo cat, mufflered mild steel mid and G3 Wrx/STi muffs modded for lib wagon.
Raspy but not droney. Big quad tips.
I do have phat hurricanes with k2 tips in the stash to go with el headers, but straight thru muffs are just too loud on my current stock uel headers... That includes tcps, and provas too. For me, it's just a bit too much for a dd wag.
Elh smooths out the note heaps, so straight throughs might work for you.
Or a hotdog mid and the chambered stock or stock mod muffs like mine.
Eg I had my setup with the avo mid and it was great, even more raspy, albeit more boomy off idle.
So I have kept a spare of that too for experimentation later.

However it's telling that K2's full system for jdm ts elh bp/bl which should be road legal interms of max db, has twin hotdog mid on what are probably straight through muffs (tbc btw). So you could get that replicated by a fabricator in eg mild steel and add affordable quads eg tcp, ultrex etc.

Bit of info in there too. Couple of video's on page 4 for a q300 with EL headers. Love the dirty sounds it makes.
Hardwarebob's one is from empire performance if I remember correctly.
