Car Servicing at MRT performance

Nearly everything is in here to start with.
If it's about your car, or Subaru's in general, put it in "Subaru Chat".

Back to the OP:
Buddah and PoidaGT have both had good experiences with MRT

GTBee has had a bad experience with them with troubleshooting.
Jim and <GB> have both had bad experiences with work that MRT have done on their cars previously

A few others have had poor experiences with MRT people over the phone or in person related to servicing or other work. Another (slightly clueless) member - andygt - a while ago went through a long discussion regarding his concerns with MRT as well.

In the end it isn't an enviable track record but not all bad. Forums are bound to highlight any poor experiences rather than good so I think it is fair to assume that ratio of good to bad is better than the above shows.

had my car booked in for XA tune. but just before i took it in, it developed a flat spot at 2grand where it would drop a couple of hundred revs and then take off again.
they said they would have a look at the issue and see if it was a simple fix or call if it needed to be done under warranty, they would ring me if they couldnt sort it. I heard nothing from them, so i rang once and was told it was all going smothly. but when i went to pick the car up they avoided me. finally got someone to talked to me to let me know they could not find what was wrong and so did not do the tune and then wanted to charge me for the time it was there. $350 for a problem not fixed. After a heated debate i left with the car and of course not giving up a dime. next day i went to subaru and after they reset the ecu it was fine again. I rang MRT next day to give them a piece of my mind (mainly to vent and get it off my chest) and left it at that. a day later i got a call from brett with a apology, and if i wanted to get my car tuned they would give me a discount. so two weeks later i folishly took it back. i was called an hour or so later to be informed that due to a error in there stock count they where out of turbos and could not complete the work. after i informed them it was only in for a XA kit (tune) there reply was our bad and they went back to it. i was a bit worried on the way to pick it up wondering what else they may have cooked up and i was right. they had done a XB kit (TBE plus tune) but had only fitted the exhaust and no tune with 20 min before close. the removed there exhaust, put mine back on with the mech complaining the whole time that he had to work back. needless to say i didnt go back for ther tune and had to replace my exhaust gasket a week later cause they didnt tighten them enough.

At the time they where charging $3000 for a tune only and looking back i think i was the fool to pay that much so in the end they helped me not pay for there overpriced crap.

I also found it strange how in their MY10 review up on Youtube, Brett complained that the digital trip next to the clock was Instant fuel economy and it was pointless as their is also a useless analogue econoguage. He complained that Subaru should have put in one that shows average and range left.

Considering they are supposed to be "Experts" in Subie and Mitsu, do you not think he would have clicked the trip button which cycles through the options (the same as every fucking car like since trip computers came out). Why did it take me someone with 2 days experience with a Subaru to tell him that?.

I know it's only minor but the point is I question their "expertise"

( I held back in my previous post, but more more..... )

AND colossal rudeness (I'm not going to go into details, but lets just say it happened quite a few years ago and I can still remember it as if it happened yesterday - it was that bad....) :angry2:

AND a cynical attempt at attempting to get me to throw $2k to "fix" a power loss problem, in which Silverwater Automotive Services subsequently found the cause, in next to no time and for very modest cost.

Never again.

I actually felt sorry as one of two of the other guys I dealt with at the time seemed quite decent. Hopefully they don't work there anymore.

20/05/16. MRT Review. I am the mother of two adult sons who shared their passion for performance vehicles. My eldest son, Daniel Stretton chose MRT Performance as his preferred workshop. After yet another engine issue, the vehicle was returned to this workshop in October 2015, the motor being returned to a now deceased 'VIP customer' in 15 boxes. Daniel suffered a massive stroke on 31/01/16, leaving him visually, linguistically and cognitively impaired. Brett Middleton then refused to speak to me until I had provided MRT Performance a certified copy of my enduring power of attorney. I did this, as requested. The next 'private message' from Brett Middleton stated "... thanks. Please note its (sic) important to get the outstanding costs paid asap as every day is costing you storage". Further advising costs would cease to accrue once they were paid. $7000 to ship vehicle and pay accruing costs that continued after my eldest son passed away. Daniel passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on 11/03/16. RIP Daniel.

*Meant to do and what's*

How about - close their doors, step away from ripping people off and just generally not giving a stuff about their customers?

It would suit everyone much better if they didn't give a stuff about their customers while sitting at home and doing whatever it is they do outside of business hours.

Dear Buddah,

Jumping to conclusions, that I'm jumping to conclusions without facts or knowledge, without facts or knowledge...

Oh the irony...

Mind you, your statement does nothing to discredit mine, buy says volumes about you. If you want to be respected, a critical place to start is by showing respect to others. You can pass that onto Brett next time you see him.

They stay in business because there are idiots in the world simple as that. And as subaru's get cheaper and more affordable unfortunately the proportion of idiots who don't research or investigate keep MRT in business.
