thinking about a second set of wheels for track use

To clarify, it was just an off the cuff comment. What I guess I was thinking is that I would be happy to make them my DD wheels, and use my current ones for track. It wasn't an end goal, and I was going down the ROTA path anyway. However as I mentioned, it is the wrong time for me to consider this. Firstly, semi slicks are super expensive which wasnt a problem when I started the thread because secondly I am currently unemployed

I'm finding unemployment to be the perfect time to do EVERYTHING
So I'm studying, working, volunteering, restoring, rebuilding and hustling.
Best bit is applying for all my dream jobs (and some totally crap jobs too).

^ Even though the early ROTAs were like that and the current crop of ROTAs should be good enough, I'd still get some second hand sets from Japan rather than cheap cast wheels.

Unfortunately, there's no context to that picture of the broken Rota rim. It may have happened going over a speedbump at 25km/h, but it also may have happened when the car slammed sideways into a gutter at 80km/h (as in the wheel was slipping sideways at 80km/h, not travelling forward at 80km/h and brushed the gutter - and look at the marks on the tyre tread...) - I'd be surprised if many wheels survive that latter circumstance much less compromise of their structural integrity.

That said, yes, all other things being equal, forged wheels are better than cast, due to the nature of the way they're manufactured.

Most of those damaged wheels are from track use. But imagine that happening on a motorway.
