Another customer in NZ - has a JDM spec Post Face Legacy Spec B H6 STI (rarish apparently)

Purchased the non intercooled system, system bolted right on and they made one small change due to BOV contacting a brace on the brake master cylinder. Otherwise its confirmed a Raptor Supercharger system for GEN4 bolts to all known DM versions of 4GEN

Pics soon

I believe they are desperately trying to hunt down the legendary Matt McLeod for a tune file. Once that is sorted I should have more info

They have taken a bunch of images of the install

They missed me in NZ due to their son borrowing the car, all being sorted asap!

Tim:

Can you please notify me what environmental conditions the SC can operate in?

Example like -14C

Could there be possible oiling issues to the bearing?

-30c and up to 45c are conditions the Raptor VLCB is currently operating in successfully.

UPDATES to supercharger system for >2016

The supercharger (VLCB - 30) itself gets another performance upgrade (previous upgrade was the billet impeller) in the form of a stronger transmission to turn that impeller. The internal drive is increasing from 27mm to just over 30mm in width increasing the power transmission capacity.

The other great news is we now have 3 full systems and a part system going out to customers by late February, the manufacturing will crank up to full capacity in 2 weeks time.

Will this extend the life of the transmission belt ?
Can it be retro fitted to older s/c units like mine, if so how much ?

As per our recent email discussion my dual belt transmission system will require replacement soon as the belts are starting to break apart :( ..

I have most of the components here now, over the coming 3 weeks they will be built up into assemblies and be ready for application into new units and also upgrades into older units. I dont know the full cost yet.

Stay in touch and we can bring together an opportunity to have it serviced/upgraded

Some feedback from an NZ customer - the initial file for tuning was provided by Matt McLeod to the NZ tuner

The system is the most basic of our 3.0R supercharger kits, no intercooler and car is not fitted with headers either.

Customer is in New Zealand

I thought I would give you some feedback from our purchase of your Raptor Supercharger Kit, for our
2006 Subaru Legacy STI 3.0r. ( No intercooler). Imported especially from Japan as only 300 cars made to this specification, sold only in Japan. 18 months ago.

1. The quality of the kit was excellent.
1.A. One item failed immediately.
Plastic hose from waste gate to air filter, replaced it with correct size heater hose material, still working great to this day.
2. Very easy to fit KIT with limited tools. Anyone can do it with your excellent installation instructions.
3. Tuning on dyno cost aprox nz$800.00 and has proved to be excellent, no other tuning required.
4. Dyno showed 6.25 PSI which we left for first 10,000 kms.
5. Removed only one rubber from hood as temp in NZ is lower than Queensland, seems perfect.
6. Running on 98 octane mobil fuel only.
7. Done now 30,000km in 18 months, working perfectly slight loss of power, in last month.
8. Fitted boast gauge, last week noting only 5 psi, adjusted waste gate, Screwed in 2 turns at a time.
9. Now have 6.5psi, which lowered the rpm that we can feel real torque, from 4,500rpm down to 2,800rpm, which has made it much more driveable at lower rpm in higher gears. ( we have AUTO trans).
Biggest change was how smooth transmission operates now, suspect slight vacum leak when waste gate not adjusted corerrectly, affecting up shifts or vacum modulator on transmission.??
10. As you can see from pictures attached the installation looks so original that most people do not know its a modification and we tell people it came from factory like this.
11. I would gladly recommend your kit and installation instructions to anyone. While its not cheap neither is the quality of the kit and feel it will last as long as the car

Raptor is shipping a significant number of supercharger systems for the Liberty 3.0 at the moment and 2 more going OS for Legacy -

A change is being made, all systems for 3.0R will ship with higher boosting pulleys more suited to the shorter rpm range of the engines with automatic transmissions. This is something I should have looked at a couple of years ago. No change for cars with manual transmissions

Also, for those buying USED supercharger systems, you should contact Raptor and discuss the system you are purchasing BEFORE you pay for your used SC system. There have been some rather unfortunate events of late with buyers going down hard due to kit items missing or superchargers being tampered with improperly and then failing very quickly. Do your selves a favour and have Raptor check out your intended purchase - no more tears.

A little update on the intercooled supercharger kit for the H6 3.0

I am changing the front radiator system, going for active cooling and reducing the complexity of the frontal cooling system. Will save on shipping costs, install time, will improve cooling and reduce install effort.

This will become effective from 1st of February 2017

The next big update comes in March as we start fitting carbon drive systems inside the superchargers allowing MUCH more boost potential - more impeller rpm with additional safety

Hi Tim,

I'm Paul Baker, who just paid for the H6 kit.

Will these upgrades you've mentioned be included in my one? No biggie if not. Just curious.

Cheers mate,
