SI Drive Cover

how much would it cost to engrave the dial if each person has to do theirs separately? im not overly keen for a blank one but given that it would probably be done over multiple different workshops and is an individual trial, ever person who wants an engraving is going to be be hit with a 'development' cost of sorts as its not a mass produced protocol anymore.

Is it possible adam to have a couple of options if we get the numbers?

All the same design but:
group 1: Liberty
group 2: SI-drive
group 3: Blank

Yep... +1.

I would say it won't be a great financial move to do separate styles. You'd be adding a setup cost to each style. I'm not even sure a cnc machine will be able to cut square edged text at that size. But I will ask the question for you :D

Would somebody mind doing some googling to find out engraving options and costs? If it wasn't much, then everybody that wanted engraving could get whatever they wanted... sti, liberty, si drive... the world's your oyster haha

Yeah my vote would be do them all blank, then people can get there own engraved with whatever they like :) its cheap to go and get engraving like that done, from memory, similar things ive done have only cost about $10 :)

Yeah actually I didn't think about that... Very true :(
I'm only 1 year out of school and my old school has one, maybe I could convince a mate still there to do it for me for free :D

I'm in!

SI Drive, Subaru, Liberty and blank...in that order.

Can't remember but doesnt it already have SI Drive printed on the console plastic? If so it might be weird having it on the cap as well so maybe Subaru would make more sense.

Yeah it does have it on a badge near the knob. I agree it'll be weird.
I'll add you to the list ;-)

Progress update. Tomorrow I'll draw up a basic model to 3D print just to test the fitment.
Once I'm happy with that I'll purchase the double sided tape and adjust the model to allow for the tape thickness.
Once I'm happy with that, I'll finalise the upper lip design via a vote.
Once the designs finalised I'll get a $20 deposit off everyone to secure a cover and to avoid people dropping out and leaving me to cop the bill haha
Then it's off to fabrication!!

I reckon to leave it blank or have the actual Subaru logo engraved.

I don't see the point of having SI-Drive when you already have it.

One more specification you may or may not have considered but I thought I'd point out - it'd be nice if the walls were as thin as possible so the text around it isn't covered. Once the design is finalised I might have to get some specs off you to have a black sticker made up. This is basically what I want :)

Yeah I was very conscious of the overall diameter of the cover. The cover itself at its widest, is only about 1.5mm larger in diameter than the base diameter of the OEM dial. Which leaves it well inside the led text and pattern on the gear stick side of the dial.

I can do 1 better than dimensions for you Daniel. Once the design is finalised I’ll give you a drawing of the decal, so you can get it made up.

Daniel's suggestion of the vinyl sticker in black to mimic the dials on the McIntosh isnt a bad one.
