I have a 2007 Subaru Liberty Wagon which is in perfect condition. Now am told it has the same problem! Just before I was about to sell it, or trade it in on a new car!

The Engine light remains on(amber colour) and the Cruise Control light flashes. Very annoying since I use the Cruise control a lot and now it's disabled! Subaru quoted me $3,993 to replace the secondary pump and the valves! I was shocked! Took it somewhere else and was quoted $6,000! Called a couple of independent Subaru Specialists wreckers and they quoted me around $1,100 for parts plus labour. Not sure what that brings it up to. One said 3.5K

Now I can't sell it and have decided to just trade it in for about half of what I was hoping to sell it for! If I spend money on the pumps, valves, timing belt and new brakes it will probably end up costing about and estimated $5,000! I was told this is a common issue with this model of Subaru and if you search on Google there are many with the same issue! If it isn't their loose petrol cap!

The FAULT CODE IS P1410 SEC AIR VAVLVE OPEN/SIEZED. The car drives perfectly fine at the moment. I don't know if the were just bullshitting to me because I said I wanted to sell it, or it's a genuine problem! They offered me $3,000 for the car, which is immaculate.

Does anyone know if it gets worse if not repaired? The fuel consumption is the same! Can you clear the FAULT CODE somehow?

Is it a 2.5L 2007?
If so I can sort it out for you easily. Done literally hundreds of the later model ones for a reasonable price.

It's a 2.0R Auto, build date May 2007. What is your estimate on replacing the AirPump, Valves, Timing Belt, brakes/machine? Is it worth the trouble to fix it? I have read on horror story of someone who had the AirPump/Valves done 3 times and the engine light still on! Everything else on the car is fine! It still drives well!

Easiest option is to remove the ECU, send it to Russia and about 2 weeks without the car. No mechanical mods needed, no labour charge etc :)

Shoot me a PM and I can organise

Thanks for that I wish I had have known earlier! I ended up trading the car in. Most of the quotes I got didn't make it easy to hold on to it.

Guys just had this problem solved on my 20R so i thought i would post this message to prevent anyone getting ripped off from the genuine Subaru parts that have burnt my pocket away.
Purchased a kit call Subaru secondary air eliminator, as i am not real handy i had a company in sydney fit it. Has been fitted for almost 4 weeks now so far so good.

Now i just need to sort my crap clutch feel out, any suggestions would be good.

cheers Dan

For that money you'd be better off getting Matt's tune and fix imho :)

Better a bandaid fix and an awesome tune, than just an expensive bandaid... ;)

So here, I will up loload some pics.. this is why the light and code has come on. There is carbon build up in the engine. No changing codes or reprogramming wwould have solved the real issue I had qith my car. Ports inside the heads where almost completely blocked.

I have an 06 liberty that has come up with the P1410 code. I've found that the passenger side valve is seized. Have cleaned it and got it working for a short time but it has come up again.
My question is if i buy the blanking plates for the valve will is get rid of the code?

No, blanking plates are used when deleting the system both physically and in the tune (denso ecu/maf).

You need to either replace the failed part or find a non dealer Subaru specialist to retune it, do “the” fix or replace the faulty parts with new or s/h.
