Honestly the DW aren't bad...the walbro isn't a drop in replacement like the DW65...it has to be heavily modified...the 65c is fine :)

Oh fuck yeah!!!!

Please throw a 2.0 litre jdm crank in there with +4mm rods

Then run a nice low mount 9170 efr, gtx4088 or precision 6466 on there.

Please....

Your call of course and really not trying to school you on this

But my humble advice - sell the stroker crank to a bogan who believes in no replacement for displacement, get yourself a spec c 2 litre crank, and take advantage of that superb setup

Understand your desire to eliminate lag too, but I believe the Dom 3 will actually place your engine under more uneccessary stress believe it or not. Sounds crazy I know, but the science behind it is proven although unfortunately very scarcely applied in the Subaru world.

In brief - small compressor housing with large stroke will hit surge and choke lines alot quicker. With typical smaller housings on the bolt on type turbos you will also increase exhaust manifold back presure which for most ppl fools them into thinking its better for spool (which is a byproduct of back pressure down low) but in fact will hurt engine optimum efficiency assuming your engne builder and subsequently the tuner can reach the peak VE the engine is capable of.

This will only be amplified with the longer stroke and ported heads

Just my 2cents mate but all the best with the build

this is what I would do if it was my money, I love a good rev - but however you do it, this will be a monster! I can't wait to see the results.

I'd rather a torque monster...than a high rev limit...

MSR & I will have very similar motors...except mine is sleeved..

But he makes 270kw @ 4k...& 350kw @ peak...with a dom 1.5xtr & TMIC...

Stoker, high comp, cnc'd heads & cams...I want the boost right away, coming out of a corner...

Also...I want to prove that you can have powerful car with a stock position turbo....I don't want a drag car...I prob won't even take it to the drags...maybe...

I want to track it...& have fun with it...

I appreciate your info mick...I don't doubt what you are saying might be true...but it's not for me...I want a tractor...haha

Hey, knowing what you want is all good - you have a clear vision and you're seeing it through - props to you!

seeing those figures makes me want the twinscroll dom 1.5XT-R more.

All good Jackson I completely understand and its great that you have a vision and working to it

One thing though - i cant see a 1.5xtr with a 56mm comp wheel inducer (70mm exducer from memory) making 350awkw.

1.5xtr is essentially a garrett 2871 with a smaller turbine wheel.

Unless pushing 30psi (very much out efficiency by this stage) which the e85 would no doubt mask, but even then id hate to see the back pressure this would create

Anyway i digress. Can't wait to see your setup completed man

So much of (well, all of) what the Dr has said is true regarding the stock location exhaust housings. I guess this is why he is a doctor.
Honestly, you should look at going a rotated gtx3076 for what you are looking to do. Would come on nice and early. My thing doesn't wake up until about high 2000 rpm range, and is on full song by 4000, very rarely does it feel like an undriveable lag pig.

Oh and edit: really nice pictures. Looking good. As much as I dislike EJ engines, they are nice things to look at when they are being built properly.
Kinda flush. Fitment is something. ADM as F*ck.

Stock position isn't necessarily that limiting, more so the actual sizing of the housing, especially rear flow as Mick said. Gotta keep an eye out that the front doesn't outsize the rear, as they do seem to choke up (also as Mick said). People then wonder why their 'big' turbo doesn't make power.

On the other hand - I've seen a Gt3582r with a very sizeable rear housing that managed to get squeezed into stock location in an EJ255 Foz. When the GT35 had an FP black turbo next to it - same size wheels on front and rear, the the fp black's housings looked small in comparison. That turbo on an EJ255 made 340atw on springy dyno and 390atw on MSR's dyno on 98.

As such, I think you need a GT35r on yours Jack (but with E85...)

Ps. Loving that block setup. Who suggested the 14mm studs?
