Few little updates.

New tune from Matt is good as usual, a little more punchy then previous revisions. Got the chance to give the car a "good drive" the other weekend and a post LV showed up no knocks

Few goodies ordered also. Innovate wideband and boost gauges should be here by end of the week. Will be fun installing and figuring out how/where they will be mounted

Also in the process of sorting out Saikou Michi twin oil catch cans. Have noticed the engine using more oil then usual now I'm upping the power. I do realise it will not prevent this but will mean less nasty stuff recirculating.
Engine bay is fairly crowded but will find a way of getting them in there fingers crossed.

Any advice/tips/what boys involved in the above, I'm all ears. Still learning the ropes as I go along and am more than willing to learn from those more experienced than I

Yeh that's where I'm thinking is the only place for them really. Will have to fab up a bracket to attach them to somewhere though.

The new tune is great Matt. Played a round of golf an hour south on the weekend and managed to nudge the fuel below 10l/100km cruising at freeway speed It's a steady 11.5/12 in the city now also.

A long awaited surprise arrived today, my Saikou Michi twin OCC's
They definitely are a nicely finished product but gosh the wait for them was long!
It was only made a little more bearable that i haven't had the car for nearly a month now due to an accident and it being repaired.

Once it is back in my hands i will be installing the cans and also the innovate gauges which have been lying around for sometime now.
Wiring of the gauges should be a lot of fun as well as figuring out where/how i should mount them.
Also running the tubing for the OCC's is equally as fun by the sounds

Fingers crossed the car will be back on the road shortly. A little nervous as to what has/hasn't been done, will be making sure i give it a thorough going over before driving it away.

Suicidal taxi driver turned in front of me and another car going through a set of lights, fairly large bingle indeed!!!

Have the car back now, minus a front lip though. They had to source the lip from Japan so be another 2 weeks or so they reckon. Makes the car look not right without the lip
They did an alright job on everything else. Have a slight issue with the headlight they "replaced" getting a fair bit of moisture inside. When it's back to get the lip fitted they said they'd remove it and give it a good look over.

Mocked up the OCC's last night. I'm going to need to remove/modify the washer bottle to make them fit. It's a bit Squeezy as is
Also ordered some cups for my gauge install, once they arrive can start cracking on that install also.

How's your car running? Tune issues sorted?

At least everything sounds like it's sorted out though.

Yer car is running really well apart from the boost cut but Matt said he will fix it when he's over next.

He was clueless that he was in the wrong, just had to shake my head.

Yeh all getting sorted, will never be the same though.
Bonnet and front bumper did need a re-spray which worked out well though

Im looking forward to what your car can do with a proper tune

Hi guys,

After a drive back from a beach swim tonight, I noticed a foul smell and smoke coming from under the bonnet.
Car temp hadn't moved and no unusual noises. Had driven to the beach and to/from work today with no issues either.

Took a quick look around the engine bay and under the car, only thing I saw was oil running down the bottom of the dump pipe. No visible leaks from up top in the engine bay or around the turbo.

Little bit of forum trolling has lead me to think possible power steering problem? Have noticed on cold morning starts, I get a funny sound when pulling out from the drive with wheel turned which sounds like rubber twisting and steering is a touch heavy.

Any thoughts or things I can check to try diagnose?
Will be checking fluids tomorrow to try and narrow it down also.

Nori seaweed packets for sushi can come with really big packets of desiccant. Warm a few in the oven on low heat and place in the headlight behind the grey cover to dry the headlight out. Also check the big O ring is not cut or pinched and that the bayonet lock is closed properly (and all the external bulbs too).

The mess on the dump is likely to be a split CV boot

The power steering noise could be a seperate issue, replace the fluid if it's not cherry red, and replace the o ring at the PS pump under the plastic connector that's bolted down.

As above, smell is consistent with a ssplit CV boot. Dump pipe gets hot and dries out the CV boot, splits and sprays grease over the dump pipe

Rang my mechanic guy, explained issues I noticed, smells and sights. Before I'd even finished he said it definitely sounded like a CV boot had split.

Getting it looked over Friday first thing. Fingers crossed it's only the boot that's split!

Just finished up my coilover install which I did over two nights. In total took me around 5 hours for both front and rears and I definitely surprised myself just how easy it was to do! Also set the rear sway bar to its softer setting to allow the new coilovers to work at their optimum.

Got a little frustrated with the fronts as I fully installed one side then the next thus causing it to be insanely hard to release the bottom bolt at the base of the strut (was under load from the other side being much higher!).

Off tomorrow morning to have the whiteline bump steer kit put in and a wheel alignment done.
Can't wait for our WA cruise Saturday to give them a good test out on an extended drive


Next up for the mods is to finally get my catch cans in and wire up my AFR and boost gauges
