well at this stage I can't confirm if its a worthwhile mod yet shav as the car feels exactly the same. I'm sure it'll pay off after the tune.

Subscribed.

After adding a heavy duty towbar the ole lib just doesn't feel as lively. Maybe it's just me but I'm tossing up whether to add an upgraded intercooler so interested hear your thoughts/experience with it Adam.

Have to say, tempting on looks alone.

Haha. Could be the tow bar... or it could be the same problem i suffer in which i get used to the power within weeks and get bored with it. Ive resisted the urge for to do these mods for over a year.. the only reason i started again was the verti-cooler. Then when that couldnt happen id already psyched myself up for a cooler so went for one anyway. Then i figured if im getting a re-tune, i may aswell knock out the only 2 remaining bolt on parts while im at it. Hopefully this will be all!!

It was interesting to see that the BOV sits almost vertically on the PW intercooler, so the turbosmart kompact BOV that most of us have touches the bonnet lining... they trimmed a perfect circle into the bonnet frame right above the BOV so that it clears comfortably now.. i wonder if anyone else such as Robert (manaz) has had a similar issue.

Turns out the cold air intake im getting had to be custom made by PW. The intake piping is now designed to work with the silicone turbo inlet that most of us have.
The normal cold air intake they make is designed to work with the stock turbo inlet. So ive asked PW to hang onto my CAI for a week and get their draftsman to model it up and put it into production as well as most us have a turbo inlet upgrade.

Ive also just purchased a new fuel pump (DW65c) after getting some good advice that i might be close to maxing out my factory when when i get my next tune. Anyone have any tips for the install?

I've not noticed any issues with the BOV - mine doesn't sit close to vertically though. Do you have a photo?

I did a write-up of fitting the DW65c in my profile thread...

I remember reading your walk through on the fuel pump back when you did it... and i can remember thinking "im never going to do that" hahaha How time changes things!

Here's a photo of the BOV on the cooler. Do you have an afternarket BOV or just the stock one?

I had to cut into my PW air guide, as the kompact TS Bov (same as yours Adam) was hitting the airguide/bonnet. Cut it out of the way and it's fine.

I've got the Turbosmart Kompact too - and it doesn't seem to touch anything...

EDIT: Ah ha! I lie! It *does* touch - there's a spot on the underneath of the bonnet where the paint's all scraped away. It also explains why the top of the BOV keeps loosening over time.

Now to resolve that little contact issue (which cannot be good...).

Yeah i thought it might touch on yours. Its not major but enough. PW didnt cut the fire stuff under my hood, just cut a little hole in the metal behind it. Ill take a photo for you tomorrow.

Haha I was reluctant to suggest that you might need to check... We initially also didn't see any problems, closing the bonnet was resistance free.

About a week later I noticed paint chipping onto the BOV and looked above it and voila!

Two quick cuts and bend away of the metal sheet there, does the trick.

Thanks for the heads up re: TS BOV. Does the PW TMIC come with a new BOV or can you re-use the factory one if it's still in good order?
Cheers

It doesnt come with a new BOV, but you can still use the factory BOV.

That's good to know. Do you know if the OEM BOV will clear the bonnet with the PW TMIC?

Id guess it would. The stock BOV is pretty short.

I finally got a set of STi pink springs yesterday (after 2 years of trying). I bought the set off gumtree that was linked in the great buys thread... it wasn't easy to beat all of the sedan owners to it!

It REALLY grinds my gears (car reference) that the sedan owners buy the wagon springs... wagon pink springs are so rare in comparison to sedan springs, and so many wagon owners would love a set... It would be awesome if the sedan members considered their fellow wagon members first before pouncing on such a rare item. :angry2:

Rant over.
