Dash Rattle Stopper - 3D Printed

Postby tom_kauf » Thu Nov 27, 2014 12:33 am

Now selling again

Sold in sets of 5 (all are 10mm in size now), in case one ever breaks.
You'll basically only need 1, to wedge between the left side of the dash and the windscreen glass. But some people had good results with putting another on the right side of the dash.

Usually 20-25cm from the side is a good spot, but the location doesn't really matter. It depends more on where it'll fit, because some people have a bigger/smaller gap between their windscreen and dash. That gap can vary from the side to the centre (can be due to the differences in how well a windscreen was replaced).

*Tying a piece of string through the DRS helps if you accidentally drop it (which is easy to do). When the DRS is securely in place, simply cut the string.*

Thanks to bigbadbenny for mentioning that a US Legacygt.com forum member makes these 3D Printed Dash Rattle stoppers. As they say "The dash rattle stopper is a rather inelegant solution but it works. It is a small piece of plastic that gets crammed between dash and window just to the right of the VIN tag". Is not visible once installed, and feedback has been great - it really works!

Cool. BigBADbenny is also in, so we have a total of 3 so far *and growing constantly*

From what the LGT guys said, some people pulled their dashes apart to deal with it. There is a plastic clip that rattles in the firewall that the dash connects too. This Rattle Stopper presses that connection down so it can't rattle.

Done! :) I think it's about time I msg the LGT guys, to see what deal they can do. We're getting good interest, and have only been asking for interest for a day or so (not even a full day)

Done :) . I just realised postage is free according to their website. So at US$5 for a set with free postage, I don't see the point of a group buy. But I'll post on their site in a minute and ask if there will be any point in doing a GB.

The point is to get some production allocated :)

They're printing cubby gauge pods and other cool stuff, very open to ideas as well ;)

Yeah, true :). I've told them we'll take 20x. I bet they don't have that many pre-made lol.

Good morning, discojon from LGT and Emergentprinting here. I'd be glad to do a group buy for you guys to save on postage but let me clear one thing up. The free postage is only for the US unfortunately. I'm just not big enough to be able to ship free internationally. By the time I am shipping these here in the US I barely break even as it is, which is fine. The postage for 20 of these will be $15 combined to one member in AUS who can then distribute however. I'll update the store to reflect this international postage. As was mentioned, I produce several other things also and am open to your ideas. Check out the awesome cubby gauge pod install by cypher 0177
