Interior plastics removal & Macintosh stereo issue.

Postby LordFigTree » Thu Oct 16, 2014 9:25 pm

So some of the grey plastics in my MY08 3.0R lib are getting a little worn and i was thinking of removing them and putting a vinyl wrap on them, but i was wondering how difficult it would be to take them off, i know the vertical ones on the sides of the centre console where the stereo and everything is are easy to just pop off, but what about the rest like the steering wheel, and doors, will that require removing other panels to get them off?

This isn't of my car, but same model.

Also i have the Macintosh sounds system in my car with the 6 disc changer, however a few months ago i tried to take all the cds out, i managed like 2, but there's still around 3 in it and every time i try eject them individually or 'eject all' i can hear it working away but nothing comes out, i can't even play the cds that are still in it anymore, and i can't load more into it, has anyone has this issue before? i don't really care if the cd player doesn't work as haven't really used it since i installed the AUX cable, but i just want the discs out.

Have a search of the forum regarding the McIntosh CD stacker getting jammed. It's definitely been discussed here before.
And, it's a very common problem.

As for getting off the silver parts, the steering wheel controls is an airbag off, steering wheel out job. Grab handles are supposed to be tough. Glovebox, I'm not sure... possibly clips off?

Silver trims on the door trims are glued on and not easily removable. Chances are you will break them. Glovebox trim is just held on with push clips. Stereo trims are push clips and screws. Steering column side trims are push clips are sell. Steering wheel will need to come off the remove the trims on there.

Thats is all.
