ECU Datascan replacement including GPS speed

Postby GTB Liberty » Mon Sep 15, 2014 11:11 pm

Hi all,

Looking to replace my Datascan, it's failing, and need an IPhone app, equivalent features including GPS speed readout. Was thinking Wifi connected OBD2 ...

Are there any?

Obdlink
Plx kiwi
Or just a generic eBay wifi obdII.

I'm on torque/BT/android, it appears that vehicles own gps speed is not a supported parameter (it wants to use the unreliable phone gps) so I use obdII vehicle speed with a correction factor added to compensate for tyre size.

This is specifically for K-line SSM Subarus.
Compatibility may be expanded to other models...
It's very much like an ecuds but for BT/Android.

I'll get one for sure if it's MY07 compatible!

I'm awaiting confirmation from the BTSSM vendor and to see if shipping can be arranged for Australian buyers.
Stay tuned.

BtSsm ECU Datascan replacement including GPS speed

Postby bigBADbenny » Wed Sep 24, 2014 9:43 am

With the vendors blessing I bought a BtSsm for testing: AUD$153 delivered via PayPal, shipping may go up a little once our market is officially added.

BtSsm ECU Datascan replacement including GPS speed

Postby bigBADbenny » Tue Oct 07, 2014 8:52 pm

BtSsm works just fine!
I had to reboot the phone and patiently mess about with a few settings to get it to pair, but pair it did!
Now to ask for a metric version and a few tweaks like hiding the menu bar after a period of inactivity.
In the meantime the delveloper keeps adding more functionality, for the better, eg reset ECU.

It will get better, that was just a few minutes work to get going.
No metric gauges yet... And auto hiding the menu bar would be a bonus ;)

Hi Benny

In your conversations with Matt or with the product developer, did you get confirmation that this would work with an AUDM 05-06 Liberty ECU?

Can't quite figure that out from the posts and have had a number of disappointments in the past

Would love to "borrow" for a test one day.......at another breakfast event etc......no rush.... 8)

Looks good!

A few questions...

- assume it can do FLKC and FBKC?
- can it do basic logging? (either on a graph view or table view?)
- can it do min/max value recall?
- i'm assuming it can't calculate octane rating (for both premium and e85) - but I wonder if that can be a feature request? :) (same way Matt McLeod calculates octane rating for his flex fuel?)

And does anyone know of a tablet that would work with this that fits perfectly in the top console compartment? :) (maybe using the sat-nav surround?). I'd try to have this permanently hooked up...

Great suggestions!
Yes it does most of that, and custom parameters could possibly be added in the future.
It should work with any Subaru that uses K line logging, I'm testing an MY07 H6 this eve, more soon.
Here's info on installing a Nexus in the cubby. viewtopic.php?f=22&t=21888

The developer is very responsive to feedback, heres the latest improvements: auto hide menu bar and a fully black background.
