Check ya Plenum!

Postby Out6ack » Sat Jun 28, 2014 2:56 pm

Cause mine turned into a bum.
It had a big crack down the middle. With a hole in it. And it gave me the shits..
When I rang SunSpares and asked about a plenum for a H6 he said "Lemme guess, yours has split down the middle??" ...So it's obviously not uncommon.
A used one from the wreckers would only give me more grief, so I sent it off to the plastic welders, and for only $44, he gave it a butt plug..
Is it wrong that I sent the wife to pick it up??

Thanks for the heads up.

yep, cracked.
enough to see a torch-light through

I'll put some pressure on it and run a bead of Sikaflex in/ over it. that should fix it

Checked mine today as well and I have a hair line crack in it only a few millimeters long.
So tiny that hard to notice it. I think it's time to upgrade to something nice lol

For what seems like a pretty common problem would have thought more permanent fixes would be readily available. Id think of fixing it myself but the fear of any part of it flowing into the manifold wouldnt be very nice. For example if silicone was used my thoughts would be not too damaging but something like araldite or plastic weld etc could possibly do something harmful? Just me over stressing maybe?
