Boostaddict wrote:Maybe i worded that wrong.

What im trying to say is that my car is NOT a track car. So its not flat stick 90% of its life. Its a daily driver that takes the kids to school etc, so 90% of the time is not doing anything exciting.... Just making noises.

So if i have built it to handle 400kw atw and run it at 300kw atw and drive it 80-90% sedately. Then that will make it last longer to.

But yes you are correct in the fact that it takes only 1 squirt to kill it.... IE what happend to me on monday .

I "Thought" i was doing the build the right way the first time by doing a sleeved motor, BUT i did it the WRONG way. By no getting my original block and sleeving that with the builder so it was all done under him.

Dan?

I'll rephase your statement? May I?

handle 400kw!!!
but mostly run at 300kw? whats the point then?
but drive it sedately 80-90% what a waste of all the effort, time $$$ spent...
that way it will last longer to?...by pushing the boundary of 300kw-400kw....wishful thinking....correct me if i'm wrong big boi engine builders / owners out there...

and I havent even gone into the supporting supplemental mods to secure the 300-400kw engine....

I personally dont understand....sorry man...I call this approach the P.R.C ......poor rich cheap approach....

10.5K is cheap compared to some builds....but with your plans? and having seen the other big boi builds on here? I dont think 400kw with a theory of 10.5k being already expensive is the right thought of mind?

Your asking for 400kw handling motor???? 15k-20k would be more realistic...and thats conservative...

Also, I think youve chosen the wrong car to target achieve what you want ....I know you said being different? etc etc but if your made from $$$$$ then why not...be different...but me thinks this is not the case....

It's like your after a figure? but not exactly realizing whats involved to get there with what your foundation targets are....

Sorry Dan...just giving you the ideal world / real world scenarios..

He's on his second engine, mine was redone before I got it.... Now you're on your second engine !

He's struggled to get that power too !

Yeh i think i made a mistake in trusting the work of someone else. But i still dont know whats actually happened until its apart. But these issues are related to it being a Liberty , its related to it being a freaking Subaru.

But think of DR's engine. Its nothing 'special' as such, no tomei/cosworth crate motor $20k ++. Its a factory delivered engine with some head studs and good gasket and is make 380-400 kw with an auto on E85.

Now if i take his block, with my heads ( wont flow as well i know ) close deck the block, and head studs yada yada....

Why is it hard for me to say that 290-300 kw on pump with the same turbo isnt possible??

Or even take my new crank, tomei rods, get some custom pistons made up for stroker 2.2-2.35 with closed deck etc etc.???

And obviously im ONLY referring to the MOTOR part of the entire 300kw atw equation. Not the turbo, pump, inj etc

I'm fairly sure that closed decking a jdm ej207 is not a requirement due to the thick cylinder walls and semi closed deck, cmiiw :)

If you carefully read his build list: viewtopic.php?f=10&t=16629&hilit=Jackson
You'll see his engine is built and tuned by a professional, to a considered plan. Apparently no sleeves or closed deck.

Your the one who is over protective and over built. So why wouldn't you close deck an 207 for the extra security.??

(I'm tuned on 15.5 psi with a dw pump and tbe. It's plenty :) )

It's just pointless to CD a jdm 207.
Closed deck is for the ej255 & 257 with thinner cylinder walls...

Anyhow just google it: I couldn't find any CD 207's...

Did you take a peek at crystals outfront thread on nasioc?
30+ psi, drag racing and beating on CD ej257s in the name of research, no sleeves, quality builds.
