Ok for a final piece of insanity, if my anti-lag / launch control can't be setup right in the next week or so, its getting some giggle gas.

A 50hp shot will be enough to spool to say 14psi while brake boosting and get this baby into the 10's

That's a really great update Mick :D

I think you should do both though: anti-lag AND laughing gas... you seem crazy enough to try it

Now both would just be a little crazy

I'm hopeful of not having to do this to be honest

But I'm determined to get this on boost off the line regardless of what it takes

So after some research and planning today, I'm 90% sure its gonna be giggle gas.

Will be a wet system, jetted for 50hp with the nozzle mounted just before the throttle body. Bottle will be mounted in the spare wheel well, and plumbing will go underneath the car and into the engine bay. Will have two arming switches - one for power to the solenoids via a dash mounted switch, and another dash mounted switch to open the bottle tap remotely. The system will be setup to spray NOS only if both of the above switches are in the ON position, and only once the following conditions are met/detected:

- minimum 2500rpm
- WOT at the throttle plate (100% throttle)
- 1 psi positive boost at the manifold
- 43.5psi fuel pressure at return line

So long as the above conditions remain, the 50 shot will then stay active until one of the following two things happens:

- Boost reaches 10-14 psi (haven't decided where exactly to set it but it will be at that range)
- Revs are greater than 5000rpm

So if at any stage I switch off any switch in the cabin, throttle reduces from 100% open, fuel pressure drops below 43.5psi, or boost or revs reach the lower or upper limits above, then the system deactivates.

Will be using a boost pressure switch, wot switch and fuel pressure switch and rpm window switch to make the above happen, in addition to the standard nos kit. Will also install a bottle heater which references bottle pressure in the thermostat, so once it reaches 950psi inside the bottle it switches off to avoid over pressurising.

This should get the turbo singing well and truly before the 3400 stall limit of my auto on the line, and provide the added bonus of loading up my engine on the line and therefore bring the torque curve lower down the rev range to get me out of the hole quicker.

The auto should be ok with this, but I think the next weakest part is the rear diff or the rear driveshafts. Thus why I think 10psi should be plenty to leave the line with.

You should go bigger turbo at the same time.

Could you use one of the steering wheel switch buttons instead of two on the dash?
My thoughts are that whilst trying to control the beast, shifting (tip tronic) and going in a straight line, it will be difficult to remove one hand from what they are doing and successfully hit the (kill) switch.

never the less, this sounds insane and I am excited

I'll let Mick answer in more detail, but he is only really going to be spraying on the start line to build boost. The system will shut itself off once the motor build 15psi as per his parameters so the kill switch location isn't a big drama. Also, if something was amiss during a pass, the first thing one would do would be abandon the pass, so moving a hand slightly to deactivate the system isn't a problem.
