car revs too high when first started

Nearly everything is in here to start with.
If it's about your car, or Subaru's in general, put it in "Subaru Chat".

car revs too high when first started

Postby donkarnash » Wed Jul 16, 2008 7:40 pm

Hi,
I have a Liberty and I just got it serviced but when I start the car in the morning it revs (in neutral) to almost 2K rmps. Is that normal ???

Also after sometime, the temperature needle is half way between H & C. Is that normal too ?

I ALWAYS let my car warm up first for at leat 5 minutes before I drive it, by then the idle has settled down.

Yep, both sound normal to me.

I try to let my car warm up a little bit on a cold start. When I start to drive the revs have dropped off a fair bit from when its first started.

Temp (For my car) always sits bang on the middle, unless its particually cold or I'm Hwy driving. I know some cars sit below half way, so if you've come from a car like that your consern is understandable.
