Next phase, the stupid clutch is cactus now.

Car is being booked in against a quote of new clutch supplied, fitted, driveaway no more to pay price of $1040.

An Exedy standard replacement OE clutch, includes flywheel regrind etc

New clutch fitted

Old unit was screwed, someone has obviously given it some serious burning in the past, rough carnts out there.

Smooth as silk and sweet now - standard replacement with Exedy on the job

Rear camber bolt nuts SEIZED solid - typical problem apparently. Have to oxy off the nuts etc then fit new items

Will source some new ones tomorrow and get a wheel alignment completed :?

The Raptor car yields up itself again for some newly designed CAI intake testing

Will be looking at water gauge pressure at the throttle body first and then if that is showing promise (less restriction) I will go to data logging.

Quite interesting to see what the losses are with the stock setup :)

More info as we go

End goal is a 40Kw@7300rpm improvement with Raptor Performance EZ30 headers, Raptor Performance intake system and a tune by your tuner of choice.

As always, not looking to lose anything across the rest of the powerband either. The stock intake should be doing a near perfect job until after the AVCS kicks in at the least

The Raptor Liberty continues on :)

Gave the machine another oil change. I have found that by 6000km with Castrol magnatec the fuel consumption starts to deteriorate until you change the oil, means the oil is really past its prime and no way it would make a service period and still provide protection. The VERY good point of this oil is NO oil useage by the motor.

I was looking to purchase and not spend too much, saw Shell Helix HX7 on sale as the store was clearing it out. Upon tipping the HX7 into the engine the oil was noticeably thinner than the Castrol product, like a lot more fluid, both oils are 10/40w.

I must say the engine seems to like the HX7 WAY better, there is no tick for a few moments at start up by a lifter (due to faster pumping) and the engine response is much improved, it may well be that events within the engine that are electro - hydraulic modulated are happening more on time (quickly) than with the thicker Castrol. It is definitely a great choice for winter motoring from my observations so far. Motor still quiet as a mouse when hot.

Car currently has the KiDo tune, running so well I can barely believe it, the winter cooler drier air is making a large difference as well

Apart from the clutch many months ago, no other maintenance has been needed

Now to get the shifter bushes done

The Shell Helix HX7 10/40w has proven to be a VERY compatible oil for the H6 with fuel economy holding significantly better than the castrol towards the end of the change. We are now at 7500km and economy still very good, never saw that with Castrol, by end of change you would be in the 10.7 - 11.5 liters per hundred. Holding 9.4 - 9.6 liters per hundred on short running :) Winning

Well as luck would have it for once a sale came up at a major supplier and I have been able to purchase complete new drive shafts which carry a 5yr/100000km warranty for $89.00 each instead of $289.00. So, bought a left and right hand set to cure the damaged boots on the original shafts :D

Hi Tim, how did the new shafts go? I ask cos at 100k I fitted one from a local cv supplier and had a vibration come through to the steering wheel when accelerating. From what I've gathered the cheap ($99) ones on ebay etc are a fraction longer than stock. I ended up changing the boot and grease on the original.
Can you share where you got yours from? What color were the cans, genuine are green. Even $289 is a lot cheaper than genuine. I just like to be prepared for next time.

Shifter bushes are IN - FINALLY

I am the busiest dude you could ever know mostly and the difficulty of the task and prioritizing my work hrs meant I get a mobile mech to drop by and install the bushes

I had the parts as was mentioned early in this thread, I had the KARTBOY kit AND a stock VIN matched bush set as well

As luck would have it - the stupid VIN system failed and only 2 of the 4 bushes would fit as they should, the others had an OD too large, enter left field the KARTBOY kit - from this we took the other 2 bushes we needed and bingo full set installed

The one set of rubber OEM bushes takes 100% care of the NVH and the Kartboy set just means the feel is somewhat firmer/tighter than stock

All in all - BIG win and the mech rolled the entire job in 2hrs and 10 mins which is getting right into it.

The Raptor Liberty goes in for the "engine out" experience.

The Victor Reinz gasket kit is waiting, the mechanic is a previous Subaru factory mech. Car goes in today, should be back by Tuesday they say. Will be handy if he can manage that
