08 3RB power distribution?

Nearly everything is in here to start with.
If it's about your car, or Subaru's in general, put it in "Subaru Chat".

As already mentioned... the 3.0R-B, which is manual only for MY04 and MY05 is a 50/50 torque split front/ rear. I can't comment on the auto 3.0R-B that became available for MY06 (or was it MY07)?

Cheers,
Deucer.

It's definitely rear wheel biased.

I learnt the hard way. I lost the back of the car doing a right turn when it was raining. I did not have my foot all the way down.

I'm fairly sure that the data you were given about 90/10 F/R for the autos is correct only for the gen3. Gen4 auto should be 45/55. Yet to find out about the manual though...

Now I have been told by my local Audi experts that the 3.2 quattro is 50/50 split 60/40 or could be 40/60 and when I asked for another opinion I got this answer from the village idiot 25/25/25/25 PMSL
I asked if I could fit a tow bar and coped this answer its imposible t tow with a quattro or you may tow 1000kg and once again from the village idiot how long is the boat you want to tow  at this stage I told him to go back and sell Kia s

For gods sake what has one to do to get strait answers from car sales ppl?

I had an A6 Quattro with a towbar fitted by Audi :D

Had a look at the service manuals for 3RB auto and manual and all part numbers seem to be the same

All which part numbers?
Obviously the gearbox is different, and they also have a different centre differential...

Gearbox and gearbox diff would be different... I think that's where it changes.

Prodrive auto gearbox ftw!

Stolen from another site

3.0 R auto is normally 45F:55R via electronically controlled variable hydraulic transfer clutch. This means you will actually get variable power distribution, rather than a set ratio. I expect it would work in with the VDC for overall torque and stability control.

3.0 R manual is 50:50 via viscous-coupling locking centre differential. Works on good-old reliable mechanical principles to limit slip and optimise torque distribution.

Distribution would be set 45F:55R (or 50:50 for manual) to preference handling and stability over fuel consumption.

I understand the 4-cylinder Liberty is 90F:10R, probably to preference fuel consumption and price as it probably uses a simpler system (don't quote me on this, it is only a guess).

I learnt the hard way. I lost the back of the car doing a right turn when it was raining. I did not have my foot all the way down.

That really sounds like front biased to me

A front biased car would shoot straight at a corner or curve if driven too fast (or accelerated at the corner) whilst a rear wheel drive biased car would oversteer, which is what happened to me.

After slipping and slidding (HELL RIDE) on the snowy alpines last night I don't know whether the spec b is rear wheel biased or what. I started driving so slowly that a rental forester overtook me on the snow only for her to hold me up after the snow.

understeer is when you hit the wall with the front of the car

oversteer is when you hit the wall with the back of the car.

& no steer is when you drive straight through the wall..
