Gday tech heads,

Time to upgrade..ive got a facia kit and need a head unit.

I dont want anything fancy or flashy. Just something that plays my music and has Bluetooth. Any else is a bonus.

Yes its cheap..but like i said above, don't need anything super high tech.

Built in 4 channel amp? Does this mean i cannot use my existing 13 speaker surround? Or cannot even upgrade the amp?

Don't buy eonon units from ebay. They're usually cheaper from www.eonon.com (NOT www.eonon.com.au) with free shipping to Australia. My brother has one of these units and they go all right. They have a way better GUI than pioneer/alpine/jvc etc. units. They also have learning inputs for the SWC which is useful. Unfortunately this won't work with your macintosh amp. You'd have to rewire the 4 channels to your doors from the HU. giving you 4 speakers (maybe 6-8 if you use splits with crossovers.)

Or is splitting the only way..or a better unit?

Dunno why anyone would want a no name brand unit like eonon.

Cheapest way is to re wire all your speakers to your dash, it'll probably sound less than great as in built amps in HU's aren't the best. You won't have your sub working any more either.

Haha. Eonon is the name brand of China. They're better than the completely no-name units and have a bit of support across the internet. Sound-wise they may not be up to scratch but feature wise, as I was saying, they are pretty good. Seriously why can they implement learning SWC in their $200AU unit, yet pioneer can't in a $1000AU ($700 if a grey import) unit. It boggles the mind...

hmmmmm I agree about higher quality components. Definitely they'd have higher QC standards as well but electronics taking up more space isn't true. If anything better components will take up less space and use less power. They should have more R&D in them for the price resulting in good board design and even more space. I'm just ticked off because most steering wheel controls are resistive and setting up a circuit to read different voltage drops based off an on-screen programming process should be a piece of piss with modern electronics. Instead I have to go buy a $60-$80 adapter or re-solder all the surface mount resistors on my steering wheel. bloody pioneer

Got a unit off a mate with these specs. It's rca for the speakers.

Is a new 5 channel amp the answer? Or connect existing front, rear and sub straight to the unit.

I would like a new amp if it's a safer setup...

Or can I retain the existing amp somehow.
