not gonna happen.

Ever driven Bathurst? or any track with big changes in elevation (christ, even Baskerville here in Hobart)
the extra torque on tap over a wider rev range from the 2.5 GT will own when dragging a fat 1500kg car up a hill.

I love my 3RB, but the above statement is a load of sh!te.
Sorry.

Your entitled to your opinion, though it's apparent you have no clue what matters on a racetrack. Going through corners a minimum of 10km/h quicker is all you need, it becomes a chain reaction shorter breaking distances, faster exit speeds. A stock GT with tyres from the factory (potenzas) and stock suspension would have no chance especially through the high speed corners. ad08's are better than some semi slicks and they're road legal...

In a drag race ( durr) but the 3.0R would get a quicker time on any race track.

Youre not getting it simbat... youre still compairing apples and oranges. A common sense comparison would be coil overs, tyres and sways etc on both cars and then talk about which is faster around a track. im still confident the GT would win that one given the cars were driven by the same driver and driven equally as well.

The only way to find a winner is to leave them in stock form, or do the same mods to both cars.

Lets end the thread here with a really "obvious statement". Your 3.0r is slower than a GT, and will always be slower than a GT that has had the same amount of money spent on it. Over!

You are the one comparing apples with oranges, you stated

"Your 3.0r is slower than a GT, and will always be slower than a GT that has had the same amount of money spent on it."
what i'm saying is your statement is true in some ways

:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D DRAG :D :D :D :D :D TRACK
:D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D WINNER :D :D :D :D WINNER

Stock = :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D :D GT :D :D :D :D :D GT

$3500 spent on
power mods+ tune = :D :D :D :D :D GT :D :D :D :D :D GT

$3500 spent on
power mods for GT
suspension tyres for 3.0R = :D :D :D :D GT :D :D :D :D :D 3.0R

$3500 spent on
Suspension mods for = :D :D :D :D :D GT :D :D :D :D :D :D GT
both cars

unlimited amount
spent on car "without engine swap" = :D 3.0R :D :D :D :D :D :D 3.0R

would you agree? (lol at my attempt to make a table)

Yep, you're right about everything. You are so wise and knowledgeable. Please, tell us how we can all be like you? You truly are an asset to this whole forum and we appreciate your input on all things 3.0L.

(why do people keep responding, just agree and he'll rub one out in satisfaction and be done with it).

BUDDAH and Kieren come nowhere near your level of douche-buggery. Even Rexnet would think you're a f*ckwit.

Now... F*ck off back to TAFE.

I completely agree with you man. If you turbo the 3.0r its game over for the GT. And yeah obviously handling mods to one and not the other is going to make it win.

Lets stick a fork in the arguing and agree that they are both great cars. They can both be made fast. And as i said in my original post, if you love your 3.0 then stick with it.... i had a 2.5i liberty before this one and loved it to death. Its not always about what the fastest is.

But as we've all said, go and try another GT just to be sure the last one wasnt a dud. On paper the GT should be quicker but you may not like the delivery of power.

And equivalent Spec levels
3R-B vs GT-B
where the only difference is the donk (there may also be differences in diff's and gear ratio's)

Phil, clearly he's still in school. Although I'm having trouble deciphering whether its primary or high school.

I didn't want to get sucked into this bullshit but considering I've owned both a GT-B and a 3.0R-Bb both with manual transmission, I'm gonna chime in...the GT-B's better.

Not only is it faster, its more fun to drive and more fuel efficient. End of story.

The 3.0r-b is nice to drive around town with a bit more low down torque, nice engine note and its not much slower really.

It seems to me like your trying to justify a bit of buyers remorse...

Good bye

Look i never wanted to argue with anyone, but being a forum people like to rustle feathers and some times you can't even have a decent discussion without a keyboard warrior giving they're 2 cents thats why sometimes you have to dish it up as well, and as you can see its been me agains everyone this whole thread lol. i agree they are both amazing cars, they both have pros and cons. i love the power delivery of a turbo i wanted/maybe still want a GT thats why i started the thread after being so disappointed. but since everyone had come to the GT's defence i'm sure i must have tested a shit one, after all it had done 120000k's.

I've bean reading this forum for years now and only became a member recently since everyone seemed friendly enough and people were free to discuss opinions. But looks like thats not the case.
and for everyone thinking i'm at school, I don't think registered builders need to go to school.

Nah,you could come closer if you buy a car that has a proper hand brake and isn't influenced by the styling of a camry.

So your only just getting your full licence and your a registered builder?

Must have started your apprenticeship young.

But on subject. As much as I love my 3RB and even with as much money I have spent on it, a gt will always be quicker in a straight line.
