My In-Dash Nexus 7 Project

Stereos, amps, phone kits, Navi...

I actually found the most frustrating part of the WHOLE install to installing the nav fascia panel.. Getting the original air conditioning ducts to line up with the adapters and then with the actual vents on the fascia was an absolute PITA!

Also, all the cords behind there frustrates me.. I know it can't be seen but I'm anal about the neatness of it for some reason.

Hey guys, wonderful installations... keep them coming :).

Just wondering if anyone is having a similar issue... I updated to latest Timur USB rom and since then my 1TB hard disk won't pick up any media though. However I can see it detected under attached usb devices? statts, how are you going with yours?

Also, how do you get around with hard disk when starting the car. Mine was detecting at first when I start the car, but if I stop and start again I can't play any media..

500gb. I'm pretty sure it's 3.5" too. Maybe try a USB splitter for additional power for the HDD?

This. I'm running a 1TB 2.5" with a power splitter and no issues.

im considering trying this as i have an ipad mini lying around as well.. if anyone else has done this i would be keen to see some photos?

if it doesnt work out with the ipad mini i can always redo it an just buy the stuff to run the nexus 7

i want to run the ipad off my alpine headunit as well which i think couldddd work but im not certain im currently doing some research at the moment

Hey All,

I have just orderfed all of the parts for my tablet install. I have a suggestion for the launcher / home screen. TV Launcher !

Image

You can use custom icons, and 6 or 9 icons fits in really nicely - looks tidy, and you can use custom backgrounds.
I am going to photoshop up some nice icons when I get some time, so as to keep things looking nice and uniform, and I will post when I do.

Busy few weeks for my car. Painted in 2 Weeks, and in the meantime, ive been ripping out the old McIntosh system, and going full Polk audio for the Tab install. I'm driving round with primer, one seat and no centre console. I make u guys look bad... lol

I have a 1TB 2.5" as well with power splitter. For some unfortunate reason it won't scan any media. Hard disk getting detected though. May be my usb hub, i will give a try with a usb power splitter.

Statts, how is your setup for power loss during start up? I put my audiofocus to 9 seconds to help with resume of media... did you have to increase any settings? or default? btw are you running the latest rom?

btw, can someone put a link to your power splitter?

So for audio playback I am using Poweramp..

Question.. When I turn the ignition off and the cut the ACC power the tablet goes to sleep (I usually leave Poweramp open all the time as it has a pretty cool feature with the album art). When I turn the car back on and the tablet wakes up, it mounts my USB but I have to wait about 10 seconds before pressing play to start the song again.

What I want to do is have Poweramp continue playback from the where it was stopped automatically as soon as the HDD mounts. Is that a Tasker function only?

could i run the sound from a Nexus 7 into an exsisting alpine double din head unit? considering going for the nexus as opposed to using an exsisiting ipad mini

unsure about the Nexus, but the samsung tab has built in "Media Controller" widgets
they simulate the headset controls (as i'm using headset out)
so when mine detects no charging, tasker sends the "pause" command to the active media player (i'm using doubletwist, for syncing from itunes and media playback)
when it detects power on, tasker sends the "play" command

here's a recent pic of my home screen, also has those media control buttons
