Youre completely right Bruce.. regular inspections and maintainance are very important and its been something ive always been anal about even in my crappy first car (89 ford laser)... but as for having a tuned car, this is my first seriously tuned car and have such started learning how to log as well. To be honest it may have even been Ben that put that idea into my head many months ago.

I am spoilt to have my tuner so close to home - only about a 1 hour drive. I wasnt aware that you VIC guys were so strapped for good tuners and can completely understand Ben and your desire to teach yourselves how to do it. Much braver people than i am

I think an even more important thing for people that dont wish to tune themselves and/or are willing to trust your tuners is to learn a bit more about safe timing, AFR's and safe boost levels for your car. If you have a good tuner and you convey your personal safe levels to them, then youre a long way towards the commonly thrown around term now "safe tune" :D

Although all we can really do is minimise the chances of it going bang... modifying any car in any way is always a risk

Whats - NVH, Aero & Support?
Not being smart i genuinely dont know what those things are.

Ive gone about it back to front i guess by getting the power first... but this weekend my new rotors, pads and brake lines are going on... i just ordered my rear sway bar yesterday, and should be ordering the front next month. Other than that its fairly well set up with supporting mods now. :D

Noise vibration harshness - I'm using that as a sweeping statement to include ergonomics and creature comforts.
Aero - aerodynamic aids: spats strakes, lip and yes vortex generators coming soon.
Support - supporting mods eg pump, failsafe, vent boost guage w/ afr, planned knocklink and EGT

The same people who have a suspicion of technical language, let alone an understanding of the meaning of the words, principles and approaches. It's nothing they could hope or bother to comprehend, a black art best left to the secretive sects of tuners and mechanics. The "I don't know I just pay for it" attitude.

Some members simply lack the fundamental understanding to be involved at this level, and are clearly not willing to get up to speed.

I sure don't know it all but I'm going to give learning most of it a good go with plenty of time and patience on my side to do it right - when I'm ready.

I've had a great winter making video of the Northern Football League AFL games for Red Onion, really pushing myself to create the best possible vision for the clubs and the casual viewers point of view. Well this season has paid off bigtime:

Of course the Lib has been a valuable partner in this venture, getting me to games on time with all the equipment and giving me something to look forward to - the drive home.
You can see our work at http://www.northernfl.tv and highlights of the action I captured last weekend in the Div 3 semi's.
Please don't hesitate to contact me if you are local, have some video experience, free Saturdays in winter, and are interested in becoming an operator.
