buying 2004 3.0r spec b

Hi guys, I just joined the forum as I am looking to buy a 2004 liberty 3.0r spec b, manual with 130,000k's. I want to go and have a look at it on the weekend, but before I go I just wanted to see if anyone could tell me what I should be looking out for and how much you guys would pay for it (assuming everythings mint). Any help would be much appreciated! Cheers George.

I bought mine at the end of June.
It was a Jan 2005 Compliance Plate MY05 model Wagon with 114,000km.
One owner and traded.
I picked it up from the wholesaler dealer who got it off the Subaru Dealer.
Cost me $11,990. It was listed on Carsales on Saturday evening and I purchased it Sunday morning.
GIO insured it for $19,800

Okay, units with over 100,000 km are listed on Carsales between $13,500 to $16,500.
Above that they are dreaming.

What did I look for....
1 owner and mature driver (they could afford the original purchase price and respect the vehicle)
Full service records (I had a mate in the business pull the Subaru Service records off the central computer to check they matched the log book)
I looked at the accessories installed, example the floor mats and their condition. Shows how the vehicle was looked after.
I checked the engine oil to make sure it was clean and "sweet".

I took the vehicle for a 1 hour test drive and checked the drive feel matched the odometer.
I scared myself the first time I put the right foot down. It responds more savagely than the 2.5 litre 4 cylinder.
Ran the vehicle in figure 8s in forward and reverse direction at a Bunnings carpack to check all the cv joints out.
Of course checked the external condition, bodywork, paint work, etc.
Had a look at the front corners and the underneath of the rear boot floor for any signs of accident repairs.

The rest is your gut feel and impression whether it "drives" like a Subaru should?
We already had an MY09 2.5 Gen4 Wagon, so the The Spec B wagon had a benchmark for us to measure against.
Finally, my son paid for the Spec B and we swapped. I got the Spec B and he took the 2.5 Wagon.

Thanks for the reply dude! The one im looking at is from a dealer and he wants 13,500 for it, so I think its worth a look. cheers man
