

Also took the Y pipe out and gave it a clean and....

While the rear mufflers were off, I started to look at the heat shields that sit above the rear mufflers and with a couple of taps, I heard some rattles come from that region, so they cam off too, and this is what we found...


There was a significant amount of gravel trapped between the heat shield and the body. As they are a very light piece of aluminium, they tend to reverberate as well with the current exhaust/mufflers setup. So, while they were off the car, I scrubbed them and then....

We decided to lay a coating of rubberised paint on the top surface to help with the sound dampening

But, only on the top side...

So, all back up on the car now and sounds much better on the drive home, a little less raspiness on WOT. May consider doing all the heat shields this way if it proves to be durable.
