Introduce yourself

On the road...finally!

Postby TimN » Sun Jul 28, 2013 1:17 pm

Bought my stock 05 sedan a few months back.
THe dealer said the usual spiel about 'one owner, low km, old lady' etc...hmmm...not long before its dropping out of third and fifth gear, clutch slipping, leaking oil...

Back to the workshop, time for a new gearbox and clutch, flywheel machined, blah blah...all covered by warranty thank fcuk

Finally on the road with a bunch of brand new parts, and driving like new..just needs more power! The handling will do me for now but the stock 2.0 needs work.

I'm keen to have a chat to other Liberty owners, discuss future mods and also get involved with events

Haha, standard for sale speech: "female owner, hardly driven and non smoker"

Glad to hear it was all sorted without you having to pay for it mate it looks very clean.

Cheers guys,

yeah, gotta love the typical sales talk 'one elderly female owner, only driven on weekends, never drifted, never crashed, contact Moey from PUnchbowl" :p

Cheers mate, I havent had a car for a few years, as a povvo uni student living out of home with no petrol money..Before that, owned a CE2 Lancer and a VR Commodore..The lancer handled like a boat, and the commodore had fuel delivery problems and often had to be started with a can of 'start ya bastard' sprayed straight into the air intake (believe it or not it actually worked). Needless to say I would never go back!

Ok, this is a random question, but from my photos, is it possible to tell if its the 103kw 2.0i or the 120kw 2.0R? By the performance, my guess its the less powerful one. Its built during the changeover period, and being a subaru it doesnt come with any type of model badging on it apart from 'liberty'...

2.0R didn't come out until 2006 I think. So, yes, most likely it's the 2.0i. In any case the extra kW in the R wouldn't make that much difference.
It's the torque you'd notice more and they are pretty much the same in the R and i.

Ah Cheers. Yeah I did some checking... its built dec 05 complianced jan 06, which means its a strange mix of MY05 2.0i engine (on insurance slip), yet it has a MY06 2.0R owners manual and it even says its a DOHC in the manual.... Weird

Probably is the 2.0R then, as it'd be a MY06 and would have all the features introduced in that model year.
