Is Darren still in business?
The website has vanished, and he didn't respond to emails sent months ago.

Have you tried reloading a backup of the software onto your SD card? I've had a few problems now, caused by nothing but fixed by just reformating the SD card and loading the software again

Website still gone at this point so I'd say its out of business. Things werent brilliant anyway. My screen was dodgey, my mount broke (common problem), it crashed often and now my USB port is broken so it doesnt work at all.
The only similar product I've been able to find that looks good is the Drew Technologies DashDAQ XL. Seems to be pretty much the same thing but way more features. Has option for special Subaru licence with extra feature support. Also supports Zeitronix ZT-2/3 communications as an option for Zeitronix AFR/Lambda sensors. Havnt heard from anyone that owns one on whether theyre any good but doesnt seem to be many complaints around the net. At least not for the series II with the firware updates. Drew Tech themselves will charge US$150 for shipping to Australia on top of the US$550 but you can get the version with the Zeitronix driver preinstalled locally at Car Mods Australia for $699. The Subaru enhanced driver licence is $95 from Drew Tech on top of that. Its optional if you want the extra features the enhanced licence enables. Not cheap but seems to do quite a lot of useful things. Review looks good. I might get one.

Btw, if your ECUDataScan screen mount is broken dont get another one of the same. Get a generic satnav mount. You can get much better ones that wont snap or melt in the sun like the one you get with the device. Just check specs to make sure it is large enough. ECUDataScan is slightly taller than most standard satnavs. I got one from DealExtreme. Worked well until the device finally broke.

Thanks for this useful info.
Can you advise the Dealextreme model that worked for you - I have looked at several such generic holders with no luck so far.

Thanks

This one worked for me. One of the biggest non-tablet ones there. http://dx.com/p/universal-car-mount-hol ... -5cm-37823
Just turn in the tabs at the bottom, rotate it sideways and it fits (just). Sticks to the window firmly and never fell off unlike the standard one. Reasonably sturdy too. Theres loads of options on DX as well. I think as long as it can hold about 90mm it should be fine. DealExtreme did take a very long time to ship this however. Dunno if that was an odd case with me or not. I think it took 3 weeks or something. Says 7-10 days on their site.

Sorry to bring up an old thread.

I have one of these units (came with my car when I bought it) but literally is being used as a paper weight atm. Had a go checking the basics like intake temp and peak boost, but as I'm not that tech savvy I really don't know what else it's good for lol..... :D

Does anyone want to shed some light on what else it does? Considering selling it as I'd only use it to clear error codes (it does that yeah? )

Knock correction (KBKC/FLKC to see if your car is getting any knock)
km/h (ECU reads more accurately than the speedo as that gets adjusted for the to read higher for safety/legal purposes)
g/rev (air being sucked in which is a good indicator of peak power for a fairly stock car)
AF learning (see how much fuel is being added or trimmed).
Coolant temp, not that useful compared to an oil pressure but still interesting I guess.

I believe all of those are available via ECU Data scanner but not 100% sure, anyway that is a start.

Thanks for the reply mate. Still not really anything that I'm too fussed with. Won't be doing a turbo/intercooler upgrade for a year or two so don't really see the value in keeping it for the moment :)

Fair enough. I also sold mine a long time ago as I wasn't making use of it.
The full list of features for the Gen4 used to be up on the ECU Data scanner website, but I guess that website no longer exists. I believe it was Ric who actually posted it. :D

Can firmware still be downloaded for these? Can they log VVT angles for diagnosing AVCS issues?

Personally I think a Tactrix cable is a better buy if you are going to be doing AVCS diagnosis. Or if you really want to go cheap you can go an ebay OBDII cable.

Also as the website no longer exists for the ecudatascan product, don't expect much support from it.
