Finally fitting my rear STi brembos and also found a source for genuine brembo rear adaptors.

Aren't these standard on the MY07/MY08 Liberty Sti?

Is that why a lot of people just do the front conversion instead of both front & rear? Always thought the rears would be direct fit as well.

Does this mean you can start supplying the rear adaptors soon?

Correct Jimmy Boy,

Front are generally direct bolt on, but I still believe you should upgrade to slightly bigger rotor.

Whereas rear is another story.

There are 2 approaches

Approach 1 - Special rotors + Adaptors
Special Rotor
A special rotor is required to fit this, DBA make one or you can source the Brembo rotor, which I have used.

Why special rotor?
The rotors require to have a
"OUTSIDE diameter (316mm) of the STi Brembo rotors, but the INSIDE diameter of the WRX parking brake. (Note that you CANNOT use the original WRX STi rotor, because then your smaller-diameter WRX parking brake will not reach the rotor.)" Copied from http://www.fastwrx.com/rebradkit.html

The WRX parking brake is 170mm, whereas the STi one is 190mm.

The special rotor accomodates for this.
Adaptors
People usually get their brackets made up, but a lot of them look pretty dodgy. So I've been looking around for while and finally found a place to get genuine Brembo Brackets.

Approach 2 - Shoe Horns + Adaptors
Shoe Horns
PHATGT has used this approach, this allows the rear brembo to work with our parking brakes. Good thing about this is that you don't have to use a DBA4000 rotor. You can use other rotors e.g. Dixcel or 2 piece DBA 5000.
This is all I know about it, I didn't really research much into this. Tangcla can fill in more maybe.

I have limited experience in this matter myself, I didn't look far enough down the brake upgrade path to worry :P but you pretty much summed it up - either use different rotors with a bracket to space out the caliper, or use the stock caliper with a different handbrake shoe.

I can't comment whether the adaptor is required for the handbrake option, however I know it's required for the rotor solution. I haven't looked at a Brembo caliper closely to see whether the mounting holes line up with the stock Tokico caliper.

The journey of fitting mods continues

Purchased STi bolts to fit the anchors on, and the bolt heads are too big. Apparently I got the newest version of the Brembo anchors.
Have to find damn bolts that fit now. Will keep you posted....

Oh and I got special designed DBA 4000 rears in the end. Matches the front as they are DBA 4000 slotted also, but costs $365 Retail each. There goes my credit card again....

So Alan are you fitting rear brembos?

I wanted to look at alternatives for a rear option as my wallet is very limited at the moment. I was looking at some wrx calipers for the rear and i think i needed the dogbones (i think thats wat its called)????

Franky pointed out that braking/weight distribution may be disturbed not using the same brakes...????

Yup mission successful and there goes my bank balance again props to James Motors Blackburn, DBA Australia, Brembo, Subaru Australia and Nuts and Bolts. Wearing in the new Hawk pads now, a lot more peace and quiet compared to the Endless M-sport. They don't bite as hard as the Endless but all good! Might try Hawk HP-S next time.

With WRX Calipers, the dogbones for the WRX calipers and different than the dogbones/adaptors for the STi brembo calipers.

Interesting read, and yeah there are alternatives to the rear STi brembo that might balance the car better than the rear sti brembo.

ouch just saw on my bank balance and the brembo caliper adaptor price they gave me was for 1 not 2. Man these rear brembos kill your bank account.

I say if you were to do this, get the adaptors that GTSPECB STI recommended.

Adam at TUSPEED has the kartboy adapters for around $200 a pair.

Also if you want 2 piston calipers with out changing your rotors these adapters also suit the WRX 2 piston rear caliper which suits our 290mm standard rotor.
