Im confused

I cant work out why i can sell my liberty.

Im very open to honest opinions, so far all ive had are bullshit offers between 12 and 15 thousand! Just cant seem to work it out. Is my price too high?

Firstly, I'd sell the Tomtom separately - bundling it in a car is not going to get you any more money. Sell it separately for $300.

Secondly, if you have the original wheels/tyres, I'd put them on, and sell your aftermarket wheels separately.

Springs - open to debates. You could take them out if you can do it yourself, and again, sell the springs separately.

A stock standard car is much easier to sell - and you will be able to sell it for $17K for the stock car, plus your wheels and GPS separately.

Also the floor mats you might be able to flog off on the forum here...

I agree with tangles, the liberty may have a better chance if you bring it back to stock. Generally the n/a liberties are seen as family cars and the mods may put a few people off. Just my opinion.

A stock car is much easier to sell.

Sadly there are very few people out there that can appreciate buying a car that has mods. Trust me mate, I found out the hard way when I sold my much loved Lancer a few years back. I had done similar mods to it & had it spot on with where it should've been based on red book values. Landed up loosing a arse load of money trading it in.

Oh, another tip. When selling online, make sure you update the ad daily. Keeps it floating around the top. Worked very well for a mate of mine.

Yeah agree with everyone above.

These cars are unfortunately seen as family sedans. Not tuned up cars. You'll get an easier sale and make close to the money you want putting it back to stock.

When you have a fixed up car, you limit your potential market because only modders would be interested in buying it. Unfortunately that's a very small percentage of the population. So like everyone else's advice, return everything to stock as much as you can and then sell it. Your range of buyers will increase dramatically.

That's why I was keeping all my stock parts. So when I do sell it, I can chuck them back on prior to the sale. Of course that idea's gone out the window with the sale of the wheels, springs, exhaust, etc. But that's ok. The performance parts I replaced them with keeps the car 'stock' like in appearance. Unless you really know about Subaru and what a stock STi comes with from the factory, most people don't even know my car is modified. It except for the lowered ride height, it still looks stock to the eyes of the average person.

Aiming to do the same thing with my car. I'm going to keep all the stock parts so it'll hopefully be easier to sell. Anything that can be seen as a genuine option I would leave on the car (I.E - STI parts) but anything like BOV's, TMIC etc I'd make sure they're taken out.

Thanks everyone for your imput. I had it advertised 6 months ago completly stock for $20, not a single phone call. So I thought give it awhile chuck on some wheels and sell it for the same. The tomtom was more of a sweating tool, I was just going to take it out soon as someone tried to drop the price. So maybe back to stock and try $18????????????

Check out www.redbook.com.au (If you haven't already). Base your pricing on that & just make it neg. Obviously you'll have a level your happy to go to.

To be honest the 2nd hand car market is dead. Went out to the auctions the other day, 6 month old BMW 530i going for 40k. That's like 50% of its original price. Everything has just died in the arse because people are getting real tight with the interest rate rising. So if your not in a rush, I'd just be paticent with the whole situation. Sell your mods & wait.

as you guys know, i'm also selling my car.

i've had several offers quoting the redbook price.

redbook covers the listed transfer price. now, i'm not saying that i will, but i know MANY people who put a lower "value" on the car for transfer purposes to reduce the amount of tax they pay on it.

also, it's my understanding that redbook shows national prices.

would help to explain that to any potential buyer.
