if you're gonna buy an STi, at least get an 08. if you get an 07 you may as well just buy a gt-b and buy the extras.

I know the 08's have the R180 diff...is there anything else that the 08 has over the 07?

There's is no mechanical difference between the 07/08 let alone to the gtb's !!! Same turbos , different exhaust and tune only!!! Brakes of course !!! Wheels and cosmetic as well.
Not a Subaru...... Something MUCH better

NOPE..... That's shit too. Bus anyone??

Different exhaust? As in mufflers with two tips instead of one?

As stated 140k's isnt bad at all, with maintenence these engines will last 300,000k's.

i have an 07 TB STI, it has sill plates, r180 6 speed etc.

the extra's over a gtb are:
tune
better exhaust
brembo's
wheels
braided brake lines
braided clutch line
sti interior
pillow ball lateral links
sti springs(lower, better ride)
sti strut brace
sti lower brace
rarity
i may have forgotten a mod or 2

the differences in 08 that im aware of are different seats, and aircon vents in the back of the centre console for rear passengers, and less attractive rims

I looked at heaps when buying mine, and 07/08 are almost the same imho. either is an excellent car.

A good GTB is a rare to Dan..

Sti are nice more racer , the GTB is a bit stealth same performance which is much better, and is the unknown :)

My opinion :) both are still lib GTBs!

rear aircon vents.
load rating on wheels were different for some reason...
the front passenger seat is electric.

sat nav (not sure if this was an option or standard)

there's heaps of threads on this in the past...

Mine has Sat Nav 07. I believe the STI have alloy control arms. I think 08 have parking sensors. Let's face it any mods you do to a GTB are going to outweigh the performance of any standard tuned by STI mods so it is more about the styling and special edition rarity. Personally I would forget STI or GTB and find one in the best condition with the mods you want and don't worry so much about the k's. If the car has been well respected and looked after this will be evident.

A few sensible mods and tuned by Matt (Kido).

Yeah what that last guy said. I had my heart set on a black sti sedan, but from looking around I came out with a silver gtb wagon since it already had all the money spent on it and was a bargain. And after thinking about it for a while, I reckon if you want to leave it standard, go the sti, otherwise just mod the snot out of a gtb as its not rare and they are cheaper without too much compromise (for me the biggest thing is the brembos).

Ps- sat nav is an option on the my08 sti's

The GTB in my opinion is far more appealing than the sti and more style. More grown up ..

Power out put is the same but you have ensure its a 6 Speed ! :)

Interested to know why you think this?

Aside from the passenger's electric seat and the STI logo on the dash, I think the 07 is more appealing:

* Gold Brembos
* Charcoal Enkeis
* full leather seats

I specifically looked for an 07 over an 08 for months for the above reasons.

More grown up? How so?

Unless I'm mistaken, the STI has an extra 10kw over the GTB due to a re-mapped computer
Not to mention the better resale value.

The liberty has more class than a wrx, therefor I find the 08 more appealing.

*black brembos
*nicer enkei's
*better grill
*electric passenger seat as you mentioned
*rear aircon.
*more STi rice and a "better" car as its newer and probably has other subtle upgrades.

The first 3 are personal preference but I think they suit the post facelift the best. The black brakes don't scream "look at me I wanna race you" and the enkei's are a more subtle but classier design. But as everyone knows, brakes and wheels can be painted any colour you want.
