Want to buy 2004-2007 liberty

Postby Stewie1995 » Tue Apr 09, 2013 1:45 pm

Hi,
I want to buy a 2004-2007 liberty. I am a green p-plater so i cant get a GT :( but i have been looking everywhere and either just missing out on deals or cars are out of my price range. Im looking at about spending $14,000 for a liberty with under 100,000 kms, clean and looked after without any major dents/scratches/marks. I reallly really want a liberty. Other option is SP23 bur i know if i get one ill still be bunmed i didnt get a liberty.
PLEASE SOMEONE HELP :)

I think you will find a MY07 to be out of your price range. But you could get a MY05/MY06 Spec B 3L, which is similar power to the GT (180kw vs 184kw), for about $16-18k if you can extend your budget a few grand.
Good luck!

Thanks mate. Im not too worried about performance, it would just be a bonus. Looking at the 2.0L or 2.5L, just carsales and carsguide and gumtree all had good deals a month ago when i wasnt really looking seriously, now that im looking to buy theres nothing :(

you should be able to get a 3.0 for 14k with some good negotiating, the market's pretty quiet at the moment so since you're the one with cash you've got the power over the sellers
none of the ones at 16k + are moving theyve all been there for ages

If you go for a 2.0 or 2.5 'around' 100k kms make sure the timing belt is done, can save you up to $1500 depending on where you get it done. If you're adamant on getting a car under 100k kms for the year you're after may as well get a 3.0 - it's got a timing chain and hence no timing belt service (ie spend the money you would on a service for a 3.0)
