Steve, what are you after? The MY06 STi is more aggressive while the MY07 STi is more refined.

If you're looking for good performance straight out of the box without mods, I'd say the 06 is the way to go.

But if you are looking to mod your car, the 07 is a good platform to start.

Why would the 07 be a better platform to start compare to the 06?

i think opposite, and i dont mean to stir up anything at all kvn. but i think, in my opinion that is, that the 2.0L will be easier because first of all there is no SI drive to worry about. Secondly, i think there are more mods available form japanese brands because of their use of the 2.0L.

Heh-heh. Looking at the long list of mods on any of the Team Funeral cars, they would probably beg to differ. Having modded both a MY05 and a MY07, I found the A-C series (MY04-MY06) to have more mods and parts available for it because it's been around longer.

I guess it depends on why one buys the Liberty to start with. If it's for a quiet luxury ride, the 07 fits the bill a bit better than the 06 because it's got more refined ride. It still retains most of it (depending on the mods that's put on) after being modded.

Btw why is this question in "Post Your Mods"? It belongs in the either "General" or "Bling Me Up". Just for future reference.

I'd agree with EJ25.

No Si-drive (even though it hasnt been a problem yet), makes it easier, also the parts also mentioned much easier and cheaper to get out of Japan, than to look at parts for the 2.5 out of US.

MY06 if you want to have an easy journey, more guys on here with heaps of mods and heaps of knowledge, whereas the 2.5lt is just starting out, with alot of the mods being a TRIAL (guinea pig style).

Most parts are interchangable but tuning and turbo upgrades will be a uncharted territory on the MY07.

If you are looking at extensive, ease and reliable mods, go the 2.0lt.

If you want bigger power gain from little mods, i say go 2.5lt.

We should take the original poster out back and beat them for disrupting our harmony.
