Centre i think but we did talk front too?? He said they are plated and will be noisier then the standard stuff as that is the trade off you get for a tasty diff!!!

Plate type diffs can be noisy depending on the oil, setup or friction modifiers used apparently.
The cusco Tarmac gear center diff is planetary (non LSD) - it splits drive 35/65 f/r.
I want!

note, Cuscor Tarmac gear is a fully open diff.
like the modified stock one I now have in my car after the VLSD failed
Ideally a helical LSD up front would be better, but i've not had any traction issues on wet/ dry/ muddy gravel or on wet grass

So where do i find such goodies?? As the helical front diff??

I have no idea about diffs., so are we talking second hand or new etc etc??

So im guessing a full open center would mean it would go all front or all rear?? How can a center be open when its a fixed ratio???

Best to ggl all that info... In depth info on nasioc et al...
Tarmac gear is planetary like dccd but the torque split is fixed at 35/65.
Thus the requirement for lsd's f&r pref torsen f & plated rear...

I'm thinking at a minimum that I will replace the front diff with an LSD for better traction.

Is this the sort of thing I need to look at??

Locally: club lib, club WRX & Rexnet etc.
International: import monster, nasioc, LGT, IWSTI etc.
Set up a google alert w/ keywords eg "FS "for sale" STi front LSD "6 speed" 6mt" or similar.
Be creative & experiment!

My guess is its the Yahoo seller code.
I'd also try to find what year flsd's are compatible with what boxes...
Guys like DJA, Kiks or Coyote may be able to help.
Here's a great resource I always refer back to when dreaming up my plans for diff domination!

Get that and robbks vlsd mod
They removed the viscous bit & replaced it with a solid section from memory?
Meaning its 50/50 torque split?
