Postby ricco » Mon Feb 25, 2013 5:16 pm

i want more grunt and i have been given some things to go for.

bigger top mount

Surely you can't be serious?

Any car can have a bigger turbo fitted. And any car can have a front mount fitted...within reason of course.

Stay away from MRT.

Michael could easily do a custom front mount solution for you, just don't waste his time.

Why is it so hard for you?

And y do you need to go to mrt or garage 88 instead of an exhaust shop, or random other auto fabrication place.

Go see Dale at Castle Hill Exhaust. Or go see garage 88 and dot fuck around with Michael's time. Its an intercooler or turbo, not repainting the mona lisa. Simple shit.

when i say back and forth, i mean via phone, no one can give me a straight answer..... hence i posted on here asking.,... i like to know the facts before i put my hand into my pocket and somehting fucks up and i am out a car for a period of time. so for you to bash me for wasting time, which i have not, is stupid ..

you can't expect definitive answers when they havn't been heavily modded before

hands down i would go to michael, hell i'd give him a blank check and blind trust in him if i was after power mods

read my first sentence again. then think.

if there's very little hard proof of what's been done to these new gen5 engines then you go with someone who has a reputable history of building and working on subarus in general
sure MRT have their name out there, what with all their packages and stuff...but surely you're aware of their not-so-brilliant past, horror stories can be found not only here on club.lib but elsewhere on the net
all the melbourne boys that have been chasing 270-300+ on their gen4s...read their threads and the issues theyve had with particular big name workshops, changing builders and tuners etcc...

now find me one instance of something that michael has built which has turned into a horror story...

You will find 98% of people here will go with Garage 88 with good reason. Michael talks straight, doesn't mess you around and gives you quality for your buck.

I have only had limited experience with MRT but most people here consider them pushy salesmen.

Without you even mentioning it we know Garage 88 will do the hard yards and design a front mount, whereas MRT just want to sell you something they have in stock to shift.

If you have the money do it properly - get Garage 88 to do the work and either send it to Scott at Insight or Matt at Kido for the tune.

Uhh, if you go the the LGT forums there's plenty of cars that have upgraded their top mount and maybe even the turbos. Have a browse on that forum and see what you can do.

haha thats funny u mentioned scott at insight, works out that my dad is a good mate of his and i just got off the phone to him, only reason i had not spoken to him before as i had not spoken to my dad about my car until tonight, he said same thing leave that car in his hands and he will nut somthing out between him and garage 88, i main issue was that i didnt want to go give it to some one that i have just dealt with, and he understood that and gave me some pointers and advice where i had asked those same questions else where and got nothing.... so thanks guys for the advice and i will be using insight motorsports and garage 88... :D

BNR have a bigger turbo which is a bolt on upgrade for the GenV, they have proven gains over the VF54 ;)

stay away from mrt they built my car origanally for the previous owner and it used heaps of oil and needed re building again, when i rang them asking about my car theywouldnt tell me anything and were very rude.

also the ecutech software you cannot tune with other tuners unless they are also a dealer for them

I think Zac meant his sigs...

And Ricco, Michael won't use a BNR turbo, he will only use a turbo he can source, usually from Japan or certain Australian providers. If you were to use a BNR turbo you would have to source it yourself
