On Board diagnosis pin bridge?

Postby crhoward99 » Sun Jan 27, 2013 5:31 pm

I have a 2006 liberty wagon 2.0R

The engine light is on with the cruise control light flashing.

I want to check the engine codes and was wondering if this is possible without an obd reader. I know on toyotas if you bridge a couple of the outlets it will flash the ecu in a sequence that will read out as the code. I can find the obd connector (I think 16 pin) under the dash on the right hand side however dont know what pins to bridge or if that will even work.

I have read on the legacy forums that they have a black wire with a plug and you just bridge those but I cant find these wires and I think it is different on my car. Surely this is possible.

Failing this if somebody near ferntree gully in victoria has an obd2 reader that I could drop by and use that would be good too.

If you have a laptop running windows xp or higher I can read your code for you with my tactrix cable. I don't live too far away.

Thanks for that

Based on what your saying I'm assuming that the codes cant be checked without some equipment.

I'm not saying there isn't another way to do it, but seeing as there is like probably 5+ people all near your area with tactrix cables and laptops who can connect and view / clear your CEL....it's a lot easier than doing whatever the hell you are trying to do
