WTB heavy duty clutch for Gen 5 Liberty GT - FOUND ONE

Postby Camo66 » Wed Jan 09, 2013 8:59 pm

Hi all,

been trying to find where I can get a heavy duty clutch for my MY10 GT Liberty.

Spoken with jack-GTB on this forum and he cant help.

MRT want just over $1400 for a kit and state it doesn't suit standard flywheel (their kits includes flywheel).

The only thing I found in the 'Exedy' site is kit no. FJK-7853, but this is for a Legacy GT Premium but it doesn't come up with one for the Liberty GT Premium (says no part found). So I'm not sure if this is the right kit or not.

Any thoughts or experience on where I can buy a heavy duty clutch for my car, would be appreciated.

Cheers, Kev

Hey Camo

Are you getting much clutch slip at the moment or are you planning to tow?

Thanks blacktop, I might try and call into his work place tomorrow if I can.

PoidaGT, no slipping and not planning to tow anything heavy. The main reason on thinking about replacing it is that Subaru have the gearbox out at the moment re a warranty claim.

Also I have (so far) had an increase in power due to turbo back exhaust and a KiDo tune. Am thinking about a turbo upgrade, bigger injectors and running E85 (tune to suit). If I do this, there will be more chance of a slipping clutch and cheaper to do now why gearbox is out.

Cheers, Kev

If MRT are selling a clutch upgrade for $1400, everyone else should be selling theirs for around $700

It makes sense to do it now while the gearbox is out.

I haven't seen many servos in Sydney selling E85.

It might be hard to find a servo that sells it if you're running low on fuel and out of your normal areas.

Can't you use different tunes through the SI-Drive system to run different fuel??

IE. I mode for 98/95, S and S# for 85? If so, I'd totally do that (eventually....)

Basically No. They all use the same maps but with slight variations like throttle position, boost levels etc.
I wanted to use my I mode for E85 tune but I couldn't do it.
I'm unsure how the EVO boys do it.

Hi all,

been a little while since I fitted this, but I ended up finding a heavy duty replacement clutch kit.

I have attached the photos here, but keep in mind this is for my MY10 car, built in later 09. Not sure if there will be any differences as the years went on.

Hardly noticed any difference in driving, but have the reassurance of no slip with my extra power and possible future power increases.

Hope these help, Kevin

Australia is the only market in which the Legacy is called the Liberty (I believe Subaru decided not to call it the Legacy here because the Legacy charity already existed).

Generally, a part listed as suitable for a Legacy will work on a Liberty (unless LHD vs RHD issues exist).
