It is the first one you mentioned http://www.anycarlink.co.nz/Anycar-Link ... B-CLA.html and I bought it from Wavetech. They were pretty quick with delivery, and our exchange rate makes it more appealing. I paid $166 roughly plus postage.

I would say you would need a different cord to CHARGE the iphone. The AUX cable plugs into your headphone jack in your phone. From memory iphones need the cable that plugs into the bottom of the phone to charge not the head phone jack. The B version could still work with the iphone I would presume, but again the same issue applies, with no charge capability. I would recommend the ipod version if you have an iphone (1080C). The reason I chose the B version is like to play from the USB port as well as stream from my samsung. I dont have an iphone/ipod.

In saying that I would imagine getting the C version will work if USB is not a concern for you as it plays ipod/iphone as well as the samsung. Its a recent addition to the Wavetech range so it effectively hits 2 birds with 1 stone. And still is same price as the B version. http://www.anycarlink.co.nz/Anycar-Link ... C-CLA.html

Hope I havent confused you.

PS. Its nice not have a massive CD wallet floating around in the car now. straight connection with BT to my phone or USB FTW.

Sorry mate. in short, YES you can use ^^ this version absolutely if you have the McIntosh HU. That is the exact version I have. It will play USB/SD card, BT streaming from Samsung, AUX to Samsung. WILL NOT charge Samsung.

BUT if you want to play iphone/ipods and want to charge it & play simultaneously, get the C version. All I meant was the C version will do BOTH Samsung Galaxy (non charge still) & Iphone via BT streaming. But no USB/SD option. Same cost as the B version.

YES, this will make CD's obsolete.

normally skipping through songs is fairly quick, but with the odd file it seems to take around 10-15 seconds to load up...large file size maybe!? :o

ciand06 wrote:...looked into it a bit and it appears to be the larger the file size, the longer the wait. most mp3's i play are anywhere from 4-8mb which load up in good timing, the ones causing the delay were 14mb+.

fast forwarding is a little annoying (seems to only skip in 10 second blocks, one click of the FF wheel = one 10 second block). other than that, money very well spent!!!

Have all the exact same issues. The unit is ok as it no longer requires CD's (as my CD changer would skip constantly) but the delay annoys the shit out of me. A little dissapointing really.

Hey Lee, I havent tried the FF function on the B version. I just let it run its course of the track. Do you hold your track up button to FF or is there another way?

FF is hold skip track forward - no other way.

I've found to skip tracks I need to wait at least 2-3 sec into the song otherwise the unit locks up. I.e. if I try to skip say 5 tracks, I will need to Skip, wait..... skip, wait..... skip, wait....... etc

Drives me nuts so usually just leave it playing even if I dont really want to listen to that song. Changing discs can sometimes take 2-3 pushes of the disc button. Honestly, 1080A has not lived up to my expectations

A question for all those who have bought and installed the anycarlink. Where did you install it? In the console? The top cubby? Does it fit in the ashtray cubby if you pull out the ash tray? I'm interested in getting one but would like to know where the most practical place to put it is. Thanks in advance.

Hey guys, long time reader, first time poster lol. Anyway, I ordered 2 Anycar Link AL-1080C-CLA and 1 for a Honda, first off I would like to say the guys at Wavetech are awesome, the only had one of the AL-1080C-CLA left so they sent the other one out a week later free of charge.

I have just installed the unit in my 2006 3.0RB today and have found a few issues, the repeat button doesn't seem to change the input as it should, but when play is pressed on the the device not playing (iPod or AUX) it switches to that input. This does't really bother me since I will be using the iPod all of the time and just use the AUX when someone wants to plug something in. I have also found that the iPod will not pause when the car is turned off although it does when it changes to AUX or Bluetooth. Also the sound goes a bit crackly on the iPod when there's bass blasts etc, this might be just to do with the equalizer settings as I don't have this problem with devices on AUX as long as the volume is not turned up full. Anyway the details are below;

Car Make/Model/Year: Subaru Liberty 3.0RB MY06
Headunit Make/Model: Mcintosh PF-25511
Anycar Model: Anycar Link 1080C
Works: Yes
Change Track from Headunit: Yes
Change Track from Steering Controls: Yes
Devices Tested: iPod, Samsung Galaxy S3 (Bluetooth) and Samsung Galaxy S2 (AUX)

Bluetooth sounds as good as any bluetooth kits out there, and its all integrated :D

Here's a pic of my install :D

oh and my uncle will be installing a unit in his MY05 3.0R soonish so I will let you know how it goes.

Hi,

Thanks for the feedback.
The 1080C & 1080B models of Anycar are "auto-sensing".
They are on iPod/iPhone mode by default and automatically switch to the AUX port when it senses an audio signal.

It is quite common for vehicles to not pause the iPod when the car is turned off.
We recommend just switching to radio source before turning the vehicle off (which will pause the iPod), or manually pausing.

Also, for our information, could you advise how long the units took to arrive to you? (After you received our "order has been sent" email)

PS: Love the tidy install!

Thanks,

Matt

Hi Dee, the choice is yours. Have a look at the previous page for pics of where mine is located. Assuming you prefer to mount your unit in the glove box, I believe this location suited me the best. The alternative is where lib30rb located his.
