yes the dealer had a harness basically the same as the tutorial, it had most wires come from the OP connector and some from behind the stereo. at one point i had the instruction sheet for the dealer installed satnav in pdf, found it online somewhere.

Just retro fitted my Sat nav unit from Tristan into my car.

A HUGE thanks to mitchy_bobby for supplying my harness and providing some helpful install tips :D :D :D

Holy sh1t...

They were right. It is plug and play to an extent as I've got the entire dash wiring loom... but jeebus. Wasn't expecting this. I think I'm well and truly outta my depth.

I guess my two options are: return it, or hope that Mitchy (or someone else) will want make some $ and help a brother out? (I've got the Kenwood radio though).

Honestly it's actually not hard to install. I was done in about 2 hours, 1/3 of this time was playing around to make sure it was working, the other 1/3 was taking off the console and glove box to get to it all.

How did you manage to get your hands on these? They would come in handy as i will have a complete spare set minus these two plugs

The 'Retrofit Navigation' Thread

Man I wish I came across this earlier! Took mine in for install but the audio cable was not there apparently. I've left my car at the shops as I had a work trip.
They're going to try and call their suppliers tmrw to see what they can do.

Here's what you need:

Image

These two cables need to be cut out of the donors car so Mitch can make up a new harness

Then it's a matter of plug and play (As well as a bit of dash removal)

All done and working

Bit OT Hamish, but don't you like the cold? 29c outside, and your AC is on 24.5c

Looks good though. Looking forward to getting mine in once I (work out how to dismantle the glovebox and) get the necessary cabling.

EDIT: for the purposes of keeping "retrofit" sat nav stuff together - what screws are everyone using for the install?

If you've got small girly hands like me, you should only need to remove the lower plastic cover on the dash above the pedals to get to the Options port.
