Solid torque too

Well done again enjoy

You were totally right Mick, the shove back in the seat is the best, excuse my noob ness but how do you work out the torque?

Ps the trans was strong as on the dyno no obvious slipping like last time. :D

chook wrote:So got my car back from insight today and....... Holy shit, dyno results put a smile on my face but the bum dyno on the way back to Canberra just blew me away. I took 60lt of E-flex with me, they filled the car did 43 dyno runs then after giving it a few squirts and averaging 120km on the way home it only took 35lt at the bowser in Canberra whhaaa? Is this normal with 20psi and 220awkw on E85? And my trip meter says 990km till empty.

Stoked, never going back.

I am guessing that you have changed your stock injectors for some larger ones to run the corn juice. That would explain why your DTE reading is so large. If you have run 275 kms from Arndell Park to Canberra (distance estimate from Google Maps) and consumed 35 litres, then that amounts to 12.77 l/100k. But then 43 dyno runs, not sure, but you should be looking at better than 10l/100k easy and see 600kms per tank. Your DTE reading is high due to the lower duty cycle of the larger injectors. The injector duty cycle is used to calculate the DTE figure. Now this is what I have heard and I don't know for certain. Happy to be corrected by others who know the precise detail.

Yeah that's correct, I had a top feed fuel rail conversion done with 1000cc injectors, fuel reg and all the bells and whistles, that makes a lot of sense, the fuel gauge was going down a lot quicker than the DTE, having said that I used to use more than half a tank on the Canberra/Sydney drive so very presently surprised.

My car should be finalised in a few weeks, the new engine is ready for install and turbo should be adequately sized for E85 with ID2000's and Magnafuel 2000+Hp pump. When in doubt, go twist mount ;)

I'm so confused right now...for some reason I thought your name was Matt! It was you I was initially referring to haha, you should definitely come chook (cam?)

Costs $50 to enter plus you need an ADR approved helmet but I will post a thread up in the Gatherings > NSW forum shortly so there will be details there!

Question: How long can your car sit with E85 in it?

I.e. if I were to go on a 2 week holiday and the car was just sitting in the garage...is that bad?

FYI, I emailed Caltex this:

Rome_STI wrote:Hi there,

Are there plans to further roll-out E-flex in the Sydney area? I currently only have access to E-flex at Kirrawee and Heathcote as I live in the Sutherland Shire.

Thanks,

Jerome

And received this response:

Caltex wrote:Hi Jerome

Caltex reviews each site that we knock down and rebuild from the tankage up for the opportunity to put in E-Flex in NSW. This is the only way we've found to ensure that there are no infrastructure or compatibility issues with the fuel and the storage system at the site.

Unfortunately this means that the roll out of sites seems very slow as our program allows us only about 20-30 sites to replace tanks at nationally - due to the expense. At this stage there are further plans to roll out in Sydney, but there are none than I can immediately confirm. We will be re-looking at the 2013 list early next year.

Kind regards

I then asked this:

Rome_STI wrote:Hi Mabelle,

I appreciate your response. Just one further question if you don't mind me asking? The website suggests that E-flex is a blended fuel which is around E70-E85 depending on the season. Has this blending actually been happening yet or has it just been E85 all year 'round?

Kind regards,

Jerome

And received this response:

Caltex wrote:Hi Jerome

We have only ever changed this ration once since the product was launched in Sydney: it moved from 70% to 71% at the beginning of February 2012. For the rest of the year it has remained at 71% (and 29% ULP). We have no plans to change it this coming summer or next winter either.

The restrictions on increasing it higher are actually being driven by the factory floor flex fuel vehicles. They experience start-up issues when the cars can't get enough vapour pressure from the fuel, hence we are limited on how high we can increase it.

Kind regards

I found this very interesting! It is good from a tune perspective but bad that it's not actually full E85, I want those extra kws!
