Hi! - Want to be part of the Subaru Family again...

Postby Scoobygurl » Sun Oct 28, 2012 9:34 am

Hi everyone,

I currently drive a V8 Calais (unimpressed) after having owned a Subaru Impreza from new for 11 years - oh how I miss my Scooby Doo!!! Have had the Calais for 2 years now & still dislike it, I feel like selling the Subaru was the biggest automotive mistake I have ever made & I'm wanting to correct that mistake with an MY07/08 Liberty 3.0R-B. With manual transmisson. In Urban Grey. And low kms. Not fussy at all  !

Anyway, here's my stats:
Name: Angela
Ride: Holden VZ Calais - 5.7l
Location: Newcastle, NSW
Mod: 2.5" staintune pipes, pacemaker extractors & SS Growler - and still not as snappy as my old Subaru!
Plans: Sell the Calais & replace with a Liberty!
Occupation: Insurance (please, no haters)
Year of birth: Really? Do I have to???
Interest: Driving Subarus
Previous Rides: Nissan Exa (N13 series); MY00 Subaru Impreza RX

Hoping someone on this site can point me in the direction of someone selling a car suiting my needs! Also looking for tips/advice on the Liberty 3.0R-B.

welcome to the forums Angela.

Im sure you will find the right Lib for you. They are a classy beast.

One thing I recommend for the libs is a KiDo tune done by Matt at Throttle Happy Performance. He is able to make these cars come alive. Certainly worth the cash.

Anyway, keep researching in the 3.0 section, ask questions and keep ya eyes peeled for any nice examples in the For sale section.
Cheers
Shav

Hi Shav & Al

Thanks for the warm welcome!

Al - I love the sedans. I'm sure a wagon would be handy, but for the 2 maybe 3 times a year I would actually need a wagon, I'd rather get a towbar & use a trailer.

Shav - Thanks for the tip! Where exactly is Throttle Happy Performance? I have already tried looking in the For Sale section, but to be honest, there's just so much stuff on there it would take me ages to find anything! Unless of course you can give me another tip on how to search the For Sale section????

I quite like the pre-facelift sedans, not too shabby for a sedan 8)

Matt @ Throttle Happy Performance can be found under KiDo Racing then click on the KiDo tunes thread!

I know a few V8 Calais owners who are unimpressed when a 3.0L Lib pulls away from them off the lights ;)

Stock VT/VX/VY Calais aagainst your car stock, it will be a tight run. With exhaust mods, the H6 is a winner :)

Welcome!

Those LS1's can be rather interesting... The L76 & L98 motors are much better (LS2 & LS3 are even better in the HSV's), but still don't have the same appeal as the higher reving Jap motors.

I TOTALLY agree! Before buying the Calais I had an Impreza and even that, I will clearly state, was quicker off the mark every day of the week! Loads of people get a hard-on over V8s but what they don't realise is how heavy they are (power to weight ratio), even after a sports exhaust & extractors - definitely not as spritely as an AWD!

I've been looking every day & still can't find the Lib I want and it's killing me! I spend hours daydreaming about getting one & getting a KiDo tune - just the thought of it is so exciting, I can't wait!!!

Bit late but welcome Angela, don't loose hope took me about 3 months to find my wagon and I ended up "compromising" on the colour (but only because I really wanted white, until I saw the diamond grey that is :) )

LS1's are ghey! I would go the iron block over one any day of the week :) Biggest problem with V8's is that they are rear wheel drive, power to weight isn't too much of a problem, in my opinion, but getting the power to the floor is.

Thanks Pink K! I haven't lost hope, maybe looking at a compromise though, on colour much like yourself!

And I completely agree with your opinion on LS1s!!!
