235/40/18, I guess if I get the wheels Ill have to weigh up whether its worth putting them on or waiting a few weeks for the also planned coil overs.

Thanks for all the answers Mark, I will hopefully will have a pic to put up soon :D

Once you lower it you may have to roll your guards. Also, 225/40/18 will give you a bit more clearance. It'll just be a slight stretch on the rim. Depending on how low you go you may need to run a few degrees of camber.

With a 235 on a +48 all you will have to consider is to roll the rear as long as your not going stupid low.

I have 235's on a +45 8.5 so 3mm further out to the guards than your specs. Ive rolled rears only, no rear camber kit, rear tyre sits 5mm below the guard and zero rubbing.

Fronts are only running -1.5mm camber on coilovers and zero scrubbing either. Front tyre sits about 15mm below the guard.

I agree, 225 would be less hassle and who doesn't love a little tyre stretch

And Mark I think you made a spelling mistake? Don't you mean awesome low not stupid low

Do you think you could go low at the front with those specs if you rolled the front guards?

I think my next rims/tyres will be close to if not the same specs as yours, but the front of mine is rolled and pulled a few mm with some of the guard plastic trimmed.
So I'm hoping I can go low without that scrubbing (although I'm sure I'll have to come up a little from my current height).

I wouldn't mind going 245s but I don't think I can have 245 and low at the same time without hassle. Maybe with a higher offset like +50 if that would fit.

I hit a large dip in the road today while tuning with Matt.

Front LHS bottomed out with no scrubbing, straight line though. With a little more camber, could definitely go lower. Id be mindful of cornering at speeds if lower as you'll definitely scrub.

I definitely need to get my camber sorted out soon... and im going to raise the front by about 5mm/10mm as i keep scrubbing each time i bottom out at speeds greater than 60.

I've currently got Rota g forces on (18x8.5 +48 with 235/40 tyres) at stock height with plans to lower it very soon on coils.

I would like it to sit relatively low and I know I will need to get the Guards rolled (maybe just the back), but what else is required when you refer to trimming the plastic?

Not planning on stupid low as cruisn calls it 8) but "low" would be nice without scrubbing on a fast bend.

If you look up under your front guards there is plastic that goes from guard, up and around the top of the wheel.
When you are pretty low and you hit a bump or dip your tyre is going up inside the guard and can rub on the plastic.

Mine front has a little bit trimmed near the outside, where the plastic comes from the guard. It allows my tyre to go higher up in the guard without hitting plastic.

With your specs of 8.5 +48 with a 235 and a nice, low height you will not have to roll the fronts or touch the inner liner which I advise against.

Rolled rears is all you'll need.

Agreed, you wouldn't have to trim plastic unless you want to go so low as to have the tyre slightly up in the guard when you're on flat ground.

It really depends what you mean by low. My car is probably what some might consider stupid low, although I've seen plenty of cars that run lower.
Plus I have no front lip so no I never have any issues with scraping.

But even in a 2.5 NA its still slow :P

and i will strongly advise against you getting spacers. They are illegal and there is less lug bolt for the lug nut to grab on to...
