I'm no expert but did you check the spring preload and general tightness of all of the locking rings?

Yes I did. Double checked them after they went on the car. Initially I thought it was my billies knocking that's why I was in such a hurry to swap them out.

Yep. Exact same symptoms as me. Got worse tonight after a drive thru king lake with dampers set on hard.nthe sound seems to be a rattle or knock, and feels a little like steering rack is loose, doesn't happen in a straight line but turning into a street over tram tracks or hitting reflectors on the street sets it off. (I have brand new coilovers so I'm positive it's not the billies that are knocking). Gonna check out my x-member bolts tmr and give u guys an update.

Sounds to me like the steering rack as well, although i have checked all the bolts/washers i can find. Have not replaced the bushes at all though.

If stationary and i turn the wheel back and forward (just a little bit, 11-1 maybe) jerkily, i can hear it outside the car. I am positive something in my rack is loose, or i need new CA bushes or something...

Would love to. It's not a huge deal at the moment so I have just been putting up with it until i have a few things i need your help for so that we can do them all at once :) So i'll persevere and see what happens :) Looking at getting rid of it soon anyway before i need to start spending more money on it for things that aren't upgrades.. :P

So has anyone come up with a solution yet? I just drove on a f*#ked up road on the south coast and not long after that I too noticed the noise. Kind of like a small knocking when turning left or right and hitting small bumps, sometimes not even hitting a bump if turning very slowly. I had the CV's replaced and still have the noise. I also have recently noticed my power steering is becoming a little vocal. I'd love to hear some update from you guys before I go spending hundreds or thousands chasing what seems to be a ghost.

Regards.

Power steering pump?
I just mention that because, it's in one of the "knocking noise" YouTube videos I saw when researching the big-end knocking noise on another thread.

Thanks for the heads up, I would never have thought the power steering would or could make a knocking noise. Just a quick google search came up with result on other vehicles with shot power steering pumps potentially making knocking noises. Did any of you other guys check this? I will look in to it and get back to you.

Swaybar links or bushes, strut insert bolts, strut top bolts, lower control arm bushes, front ball joints, steering rack bushes, control arm bolts, wheel bearings (rare), cross member or engine mount bolts.

Basically do a full spanner check over the front end and lubricate every bush and suspension component.

Here is some info on the Megan Racing site...
Coilover specific, but billies also have a similar nut up top holding the assembly together...
5mm allen & 17mm ring spanner required, just remove the adjuster first.

Otherwise, as stated, it can just be the coil/tophat binding a little as the strut turns.
At any rate I'll be using a little graphite up there when I'm assembling my coilovers.

Massively late reply. Replaced all my suspension to BC-BR series coilovers. Noise gone and extremely happy with ride, height and no knocking noise :D
