ABS fault, need Subaru specialist/part name

recently my car has displayed the ABS & traction error on the dash, and the cruise control does not work.

further issues are the brake pedal feels rough. there is also a noise coming from the front right on the car, consisting of a clicking noise followed by a ring.

already had a look at the two front ABS sensors, everything looks fine, so ive turned to the ABS module. there is a few replaceable parts of the module, so its a matter of finding out what part is at fault.

im guessing that a subaru specialist or subaru themslevs can diagnosis this fault the best, does anyone know a independent specialist within perth or just recommend subaru themselves?

any info will be hugely appreciated! ive taken the fuse out of the ABS system so it drives normally now, but id rather sort out this saftey stuff asap!!! cruise control again would be nice too

Check the rear ABS sensors - I recently fixed my brother's Impreza ABS issue that sounds very much like what you are describing, including noise seemingly coming from the front wheels when braking. The front sensors were clean bar some dust, but the rears were VERY dirty with a lot of metallic matter and general dirt attached to the magnet of the sensor. Some soap and water later and the ABS light stayed off and the rough brakes went solid again.

ABS as a system is really quite simple, so the ABS module in the engine bay is not likely to be at fault. The sensors are just magnets that tracks the movement of the wheel hub. If the sensor can't read that properly, then it logically makes the assumption that the wheel has locked up, but since the ECU reports that the car still moving and the other wheels have not locked up, the ABS system gets confused so it shuts down and the ABS warning light goes on to let you know.

And don't drive too much without your ABS fuse on. If you have an accident and insurance finds out your fuse was removed, they will most likely not honour any claim.

checked all the sensors, all were clean. OBD scanner couldnt detect any faults. gonna see if a specialist can check it out

I still think it won't be the module itself. It could be simply a faulty sensor.

But yes, take it to a specialist.

notice i had a busted brake light - i remember reading somewhere that they sometimes be the cause of this to happen. changed it and its seem to be all working again, cruise, abs and traction. - all fixed somehow!!
